What is and how Steemit works
Steemit is a social network that pays users for posts they publish and for comments and sharing. Here's what it is and how it works
Being paid to write on a social network would be everyone's dream. If we think about how much time we spend on Facebook or on platforms like Twitter and Instagram, it would be a great deal to get paid for the posts, videos and images we publish. But unfortunately it is not so and "we give" our creativity to the various Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey. Starting from this assumption, two young boys, Ned Scott and Dan Larimer, have launched a new project and created a social platform that pays users who publish news, videos, images and who comment and share content. This new social platform is called Steemit and in addition to paying the most active users also has another peculiarity: the rewards are in cryptocurrency.
Steemit has jumped to the honor of the news especially in the last months of 2017, when the cryptocurrency market has started to grow and to earn those who had invested in previous years. Users are repaid in Steem, a cryptocurrency that can be exchanged in Bitcoin on Exchange platforms, but also in "normal" currency. Before subscribing to Steemit it is necessary to study the operation of the platform and understand how to make money with your posts. Each user can play a dual role: author (writing and creating content) and the editor (sharing, commenting and voting posts). Depending on how successful you get your work you will be repaid through the Steem.
The social network is based on blockchain technology, the same used for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin, the cryptomonete that are enjoying the greatest success. Thanks to the blockchain all transactions made on the platform are recorded and no one can misappropriate the money of other users. It may seem simple to earn thanks to Steemit and their posts, but in reality it is not so: it is necessary to understand well the operation of the platform.
What is SteemitSteemit is a social platform that offers a reward to users who publish news and to those who comment on them. The gain of the person depends on the degree of involvement obtained from their post: the more comments and votes are obtained, the greater the reward. Do not imagine big profits, but it is an extra income from a recreational activity. The particularity of Steemit is that the reward to users is given in Steem, a cryptocurrency that uses Exchange technology and that can be exchanged with other virtual or real money.
Steemit is a social platform that takes the best from various social networks. It has some features of Facebook, others of Medium (a blogging platform), others of Reddit (a very popular online community especially in the United States). If you think to use Steemit as if it were Facebook you are wrong, the two platforms are very different. Quality content makes the difference on Steemit and allows you to make money.
How Steemit worksThe first step to understand Steemit's functioning is logically to subscribe to the platform. It is very simple, just access the main page of the social network and fill out the registration form. Once you have completed this step you can start using Steemit. At the beginning it will be necessary to become familiar with the user interface. On the left side of the screen there are all the most important and treated tags and topics, while in the central part there is a sort of Newsfeed with posts in evidence (a feature that is very similar to that on Facebook). Starting from the home of your account you can move and search for the most interesting content. Most of the content is in English, but you can also find it in Italian.
The role of the author and the curatorThe people present on Steemit are divided into Authors and Curators. The first are those who produce posts and publish them on their profile. It can be a simple text, an image or a video. The editors are those who leave a comment under the posts, who share them and express their opinion through the icons made available by Steemit. There are four possible reactions: Upvote, Comment, Resteem and Flag. The Upvote is like the "like" on Facebook, the comment does not need explanations, the Resteem is sharing, while the Flag is the "thumbs down". One of the features of Steemit is the ability to put a "I do not like" posts. Through all the reactions, a person's reputation can increase or decrease. The higher the reputation, the greater will be the weight within the platform.
