Steem Fantasy Premier League - Gameweek 7 Review

in #steem6 years ago

Heading into gameweek 7, 14 PL teams have been in Carabao Cup action this week. Out of 14, four teams aren’t in the cup anymore. These teams are Wolverhampton, Watford, Man Utd and Liverpool. Wolverhampton lost to Leicester on penalties after a 0-0 draw while Watford and Man Utd did the same after their 2-2 matches against Spurs and Derby. Liverpool had one foot in the next round when they were 1-0 up against Chelsea but a strike from Emerson and late wonder goal from Eden Hazard turned it around. Most of the teams rotated their teams quite a lot and big hitters like Aguero, Kane and Aubameyang didn’t feature at all while players like Salah and Hazard got reduced minutes.

After 6 gameweeks we are starting to got a clearer picture of which players we want in our teams. We have got a lot of statistics to help us in our choices and even though stats not always tell the hole truth they don’t lie either. It’s just up to us managers to use them in the right way. As follow I have some underlying statistics for you. Hopefully they can help you when managing your teams:

Stats from season so far:

Most goals: Hazard/Mitrovic (5)
Most assist: Holebas/Mendy (4)
Most penalty touches: Salah (52)
Most goal attempts: Agüero (31)
Most big chances: Salah/Mitrovic/Lukaku/Wilson/Jiminez/Jesus (7)
Most Shots on target: Mitrovic (12)
Most saves: Hart (32)

Most goals by team: Man City (19)
Most goals conceded: Cardiff /Huddersfield (14)
Most clean sheets: Liverpool (4)

Match previews

Arsenal - Watford

Arsenal go into this match on the back of four straight Premier League victories and six successive victories in all competitions while fourth-placed Watford are searching for their first win in three matches. Arsenal have won eight of their 10 PL meetings with Watford but those two defeats have come in the last three meetings. Watford have picked up three victories in their last six matches against Arsenal in all competitions.

Although Arsenal have good results form their last matches they have been far from convincing in many of their opening matches of the season. Now they will play Watford in a match kicking off at 15:00 (Uk time) on Saturday and this should be in their favour. Arsenal's last home PL defeat in a 15:00 match was on the opening day of the 2013/14 season when they lost to Aston Villa.

Alexandre Lacazette (9.4m) has scored in each of his last four home starts in the Premier League with five goals in total. Should he score on Saturday he would become the last player to score in five successive starts at Emirates Stadium since Robin van Persie in the 2011/12 season.

Watford started the season really well but it feels like they have lost some of the momentum which they had before the international break after losing to Man Utd in gameweek 5. After two draw against Fulham and Spurs since that, Watford should still be considered as one of the form teams in PL. The trip to the Emirates Stadium is the third match in four against a “big-six” team but after this they won’t play a top-six club until November 24. For those managers who are interested in bringing in Watford assets now could be the time to do it.

It looks like Watford will have to cope with their defender Janmaat (5.0m) (knee-injury) and Kabasele (4.5m) (suspended) while Sokratis (5.3m) is a doubt for Arsenal.

Possible starting lineups:
Arsenal:Cech; Bellerin, Mustafi, Sokratis, Monreal; Ramsey, Xhaka, Torreira; Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette

Possible starting lineup:
Watford: Foster; Kiko Femenía, Cathcart, Mariappa, Holebas, Pereyra, Capoue, Doucoure, Hughes; Gray, Deeney

Everton - Fulham

A match between two teams in the bottom half of the table (Everton 12th and Fulham 15th). Everton are without a Premier League victory in four matches and with six point in six games the haven’t had the start to the season they and manager Marco Silva had hoped for. Fulham have had an even worse start to the season with one win and 5 points. They are now aiming to collect their second win of the campaign.

After winning all 13 of their PL home matches against Fulham, with an aggregate score of 32-7 ( It is the best 100 percent home-win record against a team in PL) while Fulham have not kept a clean sheet in their last 21 away Premier League matches (the longest ongoing run among clubs currently in the division) Everton should be considered favourite for this game.

Fulham will hope that Aleksandar Mitrovic (7.0m), who has been a brilliant signing for the Cottagers, keep on his good scoring record against Everton. The Serb has scored 5 goals so far and is sitting at the top of the scoring charts alongside the Belgian Eden Hazard on five goals. Since the Serb's debut for Fulham he has scored 17 goals, more than any other player in English league football. At his price is at the moment one of the most-value-for-money player in fantasy league at the moment.

Possible starting lineups:

Everton: Pickford; Kenny, Zouma, Kenny, Digne; Schneiderlin, Gueye; Walcott, Sigurdsson, Richarlison; Calvert-Lewin
Fulham: Bettinelli; Fosu-Mensah, Mawson, Chambers, Sessegnon; McDonald, Johansen, Seri; Schurrle, Mitrovic, Vietto

Chelsea - Liverpool

They meet again. After losing 2-1 in midweek’s Carabao Cup game Liverpool will be desperate to take revenge at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening. Both Chelsea and Liverpool are unbeaten so far this season, with the Reds the only side who still have a 100 percent record. Liverpool are looking to win their first seven matches of a top-flight season for only the second time, after doing so in 1990/91. Liverpool are the team with most clean sheets so far this season (4) but against Chelsea it haven’t been that easy in recent years. Liverpool have a run of 14 league matches without a clean sheet against Chelsea. Chelsea on the other hand have found it quite difficult to play Liverpool and haven’t been able to claim two consecutive home Premier League victories over Liverpool since a run of three wins between October 2004 and September 2006.

Both teams made a lot of changes to their starting lineups for the cup clash but should be back to full strength on Saturday evening with big points to play for. For Liverpool the injury situation is good with only Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (long time injury) sidelined. Dejan Lovren (4.9m) made his first appearance of the season in the EFL Cup meeting on Wednesday and will push for a starting place. Chelsea are hoping for Pero (6.7m) and Rudiger (6.0m) to be back after missing out on Wednesday with injuries. If fit both could be in starting lineup for the Liverpool game.

Possible starting lineups:
Chelsea: Kepa; Alonso, Luiz, Cahill, Azpilicueta; Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante; Hazard, Giroud, Willian
Liverpool:Alisson; Robertson, Van Dijk, Gomez, Alexander-Arnold; Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Mane, Firmino, Salah

Steem-pick

It’s Kane time. My steem-pick this week is Harry Kane (12.4m). So why an “out-of-form” Harry Kane? His start to the season with three goals and one assist i six games hasn’t justified his high price tag but after his last match display and looking at his excellent upcoming fixtures, his improved underlying stats and the fear of what Kane can do it could now be the time to bring him in, maybe so just for a couple of games. I know It’s not easy to fit him into your side at 12.4 million though but if you’ve got the money and you are ready to take the risk he could be a really good pick.

Please, let us know your thoughts for gameweek 7!
