The problem is Steem Power holders who don't really pay attention. Many Hive-witnesses have left the chain which means the SP votes to them are useless. Do you follow Steem politics and login every week? Do you keep track of what witnesses are doing? Are they running the servers? Are they keeping up the price feeds? Are they missing blocks?
I used to review my witnesses about once a month. Due to current circumstances, this is happening weekly now. Frankly, it's too much bother. In the real world, elections are every 4 to 5 years.
In my case, I do follow the politics and it interests me. However, I can see how it becomes annoying to most people. In the end of the day, investors want their ROI. Content producers want their rewards. People running the network want their payments, etc.
I don't tend to tag witness because I'm not a witness. I guess some people may find this. My main question is if this is about enhancing Steem? Increasing security? or helping Justin SUn get revenge? I think it's the latter, but I'm willing to listen to anyone who thinks otherwise, and I don't mind listening to people who have an entirely different view either. I genuinely want information.
We have a large stake holder who is likely to misuse his stake on the Steem blockchain. We better implement soft fork and number it with 4s because the Chinese do not like that (it is like 13 for Chinese).
On the other hand, we have a large quorum of users who are leaving Steem and creating a competing blockchain, and they might misuse their stake. So it's like "fourk" them. We will double four and make all 8s. After all, Chinese people like 8.
There is real danger to letting people own guns. I don't think a government should take away guns from everyone who has a gun.
All of my platitudes and moral arguments aside, you will still get mined blocks even if they Hive witnesses vote up witnesses that do not do any work. They are provably high quality witnesses though because they have so much experience in the same.
I am powering down. I want some fiat. My head hurts.

I agree with what you said and would add that Witnessess should care about the security and future of the blockchain and Justin did have a terrible track record of acquisitions and treatment of staff and projects that are competing with his own.
The softfork was a preemptive measure to form dialog & assurances, which Sun never was interested in until forced to do so - Even his own TRON oracles/witnesses couldn't manage to communicate like we made him.
Overall I really couldn't see anyway this was going well with Justin...

I think you should add the #witness or maybe #witnesses tags to this post.

Same Argument Applies
