Delegations, dapps, and other Steem related stuff
Well that was a rubbish nights sleep. I was plagued by a mosquito which could seemingly disappear as soon as I went for the light. The little git woke me again at 5:30, and I've been awake since. Had an hour in the pool this morning which was great, until the kids arrive. Relaxation out the window due to the constant 'noise', and I dunno, there's always that thought in the back of your mind that they are taking a leak....
Totally unrelated to this post, but ahhhh, lovely Majorca!
Anyway, enough of that, time to talk Steem.
Firstly, have you seen this on the steemit.com condenser?
I had a moan about this setting being moved and the current status of the setting not being visible during post creation last month, it seems there was enough feedback in this vain to encourage Steemit inc to make this minor change. @steemitblog have just released a new post which states further tweaks have been made. Have you found any yet?
Delegations, delegations
For about a year now, I've been lucky to receive a cheap delegation of 4000 Steem Power. For the majority of 2018, this has been loaned out for free to a variety of projects which look promising, and individuals who are working hard here, particularity with regards to engagement.
In around a month, this delegation is likely to end. And so I guess this is a message to those receiving a Steem Power delegation from myself, that I may need to rethink the numbers when the time comes. In the meantime though, and will the kindness of @fulltimegeek, @yabapmatt, and @krnel, I'll be issuing some more delegations :)
And that has started today actually, and it is down to the list I produced yesterday which unveiled some new faces to me, who are working hard with engagement and 'oiling the blockchain'. Sooo, @brittandjosie and @chireerocks, you should now have over 500 SP and have access to the illusive steemit.com slider. Well done with all your engagement so far this year!
As above, my own delegations will likely change in a month or so, and so please don't feel like I don't like you any more if my delegation is removed around this time. I'll try to contact everyone when the time comes :)
On the same subject of Steem Power delegation, I read and engaged on a post yesterday by @silentscreamer.
https://steemit.com/steemit/@silentscreamer/a-look-at-the-steemit-inc-delegation-philosophy
The post discusses the current delegations by steemit inc to the various dapps, and the lack of support to projects like openmic and curie.
@ned, your philosophy of delegating only to platforms that offer content placement while not supporting projects that offer quality content rewarding and exposure , i think, makes your philosophy lacking in results.
I understand - some of these long-standing projects are a great asset to Steem, but I feel (as in my reply), that the delegations are in the right place.
If I was to mention Steem to someone now (as I did 3 days ago), I take the route of dtube, utopian, and fundition.
Do you make videos?
Are you an open source developer?
Ahh, you run a justgiving page, check these guys out... (fundition)
Interestingly, @exyle touched on this subject too in his vlog today. Steempress are another with a large delegation from Steemit inc / ned, and I think they fall into the same category as the other dapps, perhaps with an even greater immediate lure, as the bloggers using Wordpress need only to connect they blog to Steempress to be in with the chance of being rewarded, for what they've been doing for 'free', for years.
What do you guys think about Steemit inc's delegations? Would you like to see some go to @curie and @openmic as well as, or instead of certain dapps?
Steemworld
I'd like to mention this website, cause basically, it's awesome. @steemchiller has been working his arse off recently, and has been adding new features and touches to site. For me, it's the best eyes on your account/someone else's account going right now - I use it constantly to spy on you all :P
He's running a weekly support post to fund his time, and so if you use Steemworld daily like I do, I'm sure he'd appreciate a vote:
https://steemit.com/steemworld/@steemchiller/steemworld-weekly-support-4
Witness changes / @oracle-d / @steempress
I made a couple of changes in my witness votes yesterday to support @oracle-d and @steempress, and am now at the full allocation of 30.
@steempress i've already mentioned, and so a word on @oracle-d.
@oracle-d is a business initiative conceived by @starkerz and @anarcotech, which pairs content creators with investors in STEEM. Our goal is to bring multi-million dollar investment into the STEEM ecosystem by creating collaborative partnership with prominent, well-funded projects and companies, particularly those involved in the blockchain sphere. We have begun this in the last week by bringing in over $200,000 worth of new investment.
Does that not sound shit hot?!
We go out into the business world and encourage investors to buy and hold large amounts of STEEM.
I'm sold, they have my support and I really hope they can deliver. You can read more about the launch here: https://steemit.com/oracle-d/@oracle-d/introducing-the-oracle-d-platform-now-live
And perhaps find a subject area that would be seen as a valid contribution via their website.
Lastly, a short 'me' update. I'm consuming rice and peas for the most part, had my bike stolen the other week, followed by my cash-card, and i'm currently (and very sadly) cashing out some STEEM each week to live off. Hopefully, I will not have to Power down - that would really suck.
At the same time, i'm putting a little away each day into the 'Savings' part of the wallet for Steemfest 3. Hopefully the books will balance, STEEM will hold/rise over the coming weeks and months, and i'll be set :)
Alright, that'll do for today. A bit of exercise and some food is in order.
Thanks for reading!
Asher
Absolutely I'd like to see some bigger delegations going to curation projects that foster quality content creation on Steem. Besides @curie I'd love to mention @cervantes, a team of Spanish Steem enthusiasts who're litterally giving it all and more than that to build a sustainable Spanish speaking community on Steem. They're here since the very beginning, and there is absolutely no reason to not support them in such manner.
You could set up a crowdfunding on @fundition to finance a new bike - I'd definitely support you there :-)
Big hugs!!!
Yes, and there's others like @ocd-witness - all 3 have a vote for their witness, which is supercharged by fulltimegeek right now :)
Honestly, I'd feel a bit cheeky going via @fundition - I have a spare bike :) It's not as nice but it works. You can support me here :D
Will do! :-)
I'm responding in bullets to make this comment a bit more coherent:)
Third,
Yes, definitely! I would be nice to see quality content or those who support it getting steemit delegations.
@steemchiller is the man!!! Steemworld.org is such an invaluable resource here; good call Asher putting the shout-out to his weekly support post!
I'm assuming my witness votes have changed also, thank you again for being a great proxy.
So sorry about your bike! Damn thieves. And your cash card/cashing out some STEEM; I know how much you hate to have to do that!! Brian's bike was stolen here too; we were at least able to get out for a little bike ride together because it doesn't seem to wear him out as much as walking, funny enough. He says his body doesn't hurt as much doing that. So, pretty shitty thing to happen. The thieves actually used a blow torch to knock the lock out of the metal gate because our bikes were sitting right in the stairwell.
Why just rice and peas?
I've saved the best for last and totally get staying out of the pool once the kids show up. Years ago, I'm in a public pool with a friend, and all kinds of kids. He reaches over, picks something floating up and says, "why is there Playdoh in the pool?" You guessed it...poo :)
Thanks for the bullets, I can respond like that too :D
450 - you are close, another month or so and you should be there!
It's my honor to be a proxy :) As i said, I'm not up to 30 votes and pretty happy with them - 5 more would be nice though!
I'm really glad to hear you guys can get out for a bike ride - It really clears my mind. Fortunately I have another, older bike - it's not my $1000 baby, but it will do.
It's a bit more varied than rice and peas, they are just two of the things you can pick a decent sized bag up for cheap. Pasta is also a popular one right now, and I've realised that mustard goes much further than pesto - it's a good mix!
I would be so sad to see a turd in this pool, it deserves so much better! I'm looking over my balcony at it now, I see children, but luckily no floaters!
Thanks for the reply to all topics covered, good egg :)
Ditto 😎
Damn dude, thats awfull you got your bike and cash-card stolen... They could do that too me, i dont have a bike and my cash-card has 2 bucks in it, most of my money is in cryptos :P
I need to restart watching exyle dtube videos again since he speaks so much about steem, it's hard to follow everyone I want...
Regarding the delegations, i think the way the different platforms upvote users should be checked, i've heard some people saying that some platform upvote users that create only Political correct content, which i find extremely bad since this is supposed to be a free blockchain and all types of content should be awarded, we don't want a youtube 2.0 right... this is what i heard, don't know if it's true, that's why i'm not saying any platforms, i just think each platform should be checked to see how they distribute their voting weight...
The steemit slider is awesome IMO, i have a 200 delegation and i'm now able to see the slider, and this is probably the best tool there is! When the delegation ends i'm thinking of gathering some fiat and getting some STEEM just to get the voting % option on steemit!
: )
His vids are always worth a watch I think :)
Regarding political content, there's no issue producing it, but I think it's up to the communities doing the voting to decide what to support or not.
Perhaps a 'political' community will appear and only vote this type of content :)
Oracle-d has me on the edge of my seat. I am not sure what their time frames are but I heard about them yesterday and their page has been open on my browser ever since.
Also...steemworld looks really useful (not to mention cool), thanks for sharing it here. Here is what my page looks like:
PS: Man, sorry about your bike!
SORRY man, niggas stole my phone too..now i find it hard to post on steemit
Totally gutted about my bike, it was a beauty. Probably been sprayed and is half way around the island now :(
74% charged, could do with a boost into the late 80/90s ideally. Try to be strict until tomorrow :)
As i said in our discussion yesterday, that diverged slightly into "who deserves it more" my point was actually on the grounds that
Even after all the comments on the post i fail to understand why so much Steemit.inc Sp is standing idle not being used for anything. Its not being used to upvote or for delegation and i think thats a waste.
Also as you mentioned Val-a dropped delegation from Curie which i have to see as a corporate decision.
Keeping SP idle makes you think that maybe they dont think there are projects deserving of that SP on the blockchain, and my argument is that there are, and with that quite amazing ones.
Hi @silentscreamer
I enjoyed the discussion yesterday, thanks.
With regards to idle SP, I believe this is a good thing as far as the rewards pool is concerned. If all the SP was in use each day, we'd all be earning peanuts - only whale votes would be worth anything at all.
I'd like to find something to back this up with, but am heading out soon and so I hope someone else will make a comment in this regard.
The slow and steady distribution of SP in line with a rising price is a think the best way to go. Saying that, what's being used already could be shuffled into the projects discussed too.
I chose @curie over bid-bots, and wish that more would do the same.
Thanks again for your comments yesterday and today.
Yeah. Talked to Meno about the exact same thing when it comes to the reward pool but still i think that offsetting the effect of bidbots on the trending page would be worth the slightly reduced payouts.
Id be willing to take a loss if it means that the "Steemit store front" changes its appearance for the better.
Yeah, it was a nice discussion. Have a great day and thx for your help. ;)
Sadly, you cant get close to a Post stacked with Bots at present. It would take something like a 100% vote from an account with 9 million SP to top trending - unlikely :(
Front of house is a shocker at present for sure. Hopefully in time, this will change.
Cheers :)
Thank you for the update @ash12345. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts and what you are up to.
Do you actually earn interest in the 'Savings' part of the wallet?😊
Ahh good, that's 1 person at least! :)
Interest? Not any more, but you don't earn interest holding STEEM outside of the savings either. This is just a way for me to put aside a little, hopefully it will cover the trip!

This would have been perfect on my last post! Thanks :P
Sleep in front of a floor fan...Mozzies cant touch you, the blast from the fan batters their wings and they fall down dead..oh and stop shaving your legs, they can't get through body hair to bite...
Cant help you with bike, although surely Mallorca isnt that big!
Mix up some gravy granules and add to the rice and peas, stir in some black pepper and it tastes like a peppered steak if you close your eyes. Drop a fried egg on top if you're feeling like a fancy dan...
Any more top tips you need let me know mate...oh and let us all know when you lose the big delegation so we wont waste our time writing long comments anymore, we'll save the effort for answering 'who's going to win the premiership' type questions on musing.io. They pay up to 0.85 for a decent effort at answering!
Have a great weekend, and don't worry about the kids peeing in the pool, of course they do, but thats why god invented Chlorine :-)
If youre really stuck, grab-a-granny night after the bingo at the local Saga hotel may be a possibility......
They don't bite my legs, they go for the face and ankles the sneaky buggers!
No way? I need to get my ass over there!
Full of helpful advice Nathen, glad you stopped by - no, really!
LOL Saga hotel, must be about 5 minutes walk - I'll check standard of handbag and jewelry before approaching? :D
Joking apart, musing.io is cool. They have a manual curation team who upvote good replies, but it just needs a little effort to stop the stupid questions and the possibility of multiple account holders immediately posting and answering a question. Its a nice clean interface and DApp though, worth a look :-)
There are some nice projects at the moment but it seems a lot of people don't get wind of them, I love messing about and trying lots of DApps on the blockchain and thought I'd just about covered them all and up you pop with a load of new ones!
As for Steempress, I remain unconvinced with the principle. I think we need native content creators providing exclusive content. As I feared, there is already one user slowly dumping his wordpress back catalogue onto Steem and upvoting it to trending. As it gains momentum and wordpress users start catching on, this behaviour will only become more prevelant. Their delegation is immense, I dont know why they need such an amount and I would also love to see delegatioms being spread around more with lesser amounts. Even 25K makes a huge difference to a small dev or curation team so Id much prefer 60 deserving causes got 25k than one DApp getting 1.5mil.
It's on my list to check out for sure, just need to invent a few more hours into the day :)
I agree that dumping a back catalog is not what we want, but for folks who are creating new content on Wordpress, this is really cool for them.
And yeah, sharing out the delegations seems to be the popular choice. I guess it's more of a pain to monitor, but that's what certain people like to do, and perhaps they could be rewarded for keeping an eye out.
Good morning @abh12345. Thank you for the great post about "the view," from your vantage point. Much appreciated!
Very sorry to hear of the personal challenges, as well, and hoping that gets turned around for you quickly. Sounds like your location has a bit of a crime problem, so hopefully the local authorities are hard at work bringing under control ...
Have a great swim in that beautiful setting! And keep up the great work!!
Upvoted and resteemed.
Hi @roleerob, thanks for having a read. I try to condense the Steem stuff into a post now and then, although it's not happened in a little while.
Petty crimes do seem to be popular (using myself as an example only!) but I think generally the place is safe. I am much more careful where I leave my new(older) bike, which is in itself, much less appealing than the other. I also have a couple of locks on it now. It's frustrating when you see bikes locked up with what looks like a piece of string - my original lock had served me well for many years!
I've just got back from an evening dip in the pool, much better. Cheers!
Asher! lovely updates. I can always count on knowing the most recent Steem news once I've thoroughly visited your profile!! Thanks :) Looking more into Oracle-d right now! Thoroughly hot shit!! <3
And sorry to hear about your bike! That's a bummer! Hope things turn up for you and the price of Steem soon!
Thank you :)
Yes it was a real bummer re: my bike, I'd brought it from the UK and it's likely one of a kind here - now resprayed and in another part of the island!
oracle-d has great potential - fingers crossed!
