Steem-Pocalypse S6D8R2 Strategy
Today's post seems pretty straightforward to me. We need to eat and roadkill is a great opportunity. The only way to eat a dead snake IMO is to cook it. Raw snake is no bueno for many reasons. Using it for bait is VERY enticing but, assuming you need to eat and/or want to save your backup supply. Also, we have a firestarter and 2 cans of food.
CAVEAT! FIRE, SMOKE, & COOKING FOOD = ATTRACTANT
There are no guarentees in life and definitely not in Steem-Pocalypse. Starting a fire can get you killed as animals (especially the two-legged kind) can see the fire and smell the smoke and cooking food but so can eating raw snake or not eating at all.
In order:
- OPTION 3 – Try to cook the snake - success probably, you can pretty much boil anything for 15 mins and kill anything
- OPTION 5 – Try to take the snake to the stream and use it as bait - success probably, animals and fish like water but I have seen this fail in past seasons
- OPTION 4 – Try to leave the snake there and use it as bait - hungry probably, its already been there, may get some carrion animals
- OPTION 2 – Try to eat the snake raw death probably, could also be success or sickness
- OPTION 1 – Try to run away hungry, watch out for cliffs and hillbillies!
Ben and I have been playing vicariously and so far have chosen successfully...except for that stupid decision to search a house we didn't need to search. We need to remember in the future that when item rounds are over, we need to move on without searching things like this (unless someone shouts "help", of course).
My vote on this one was to cook the snake, which would've been possible because our inventory had a firestarter. Ben wanted to take it to the stream. Turns out either one would've been a good option!
Next round I'm thinking boiling the water is the way to go...that should pasteurize it and make it safe. I think you pretty much need to get the water up to 160, thought 180 would be better and if you can get it to 212 you're best off.

Oh rats, you did the boiling for a long time instead of the pasteurizing for a long time?!
This is definitely something to keep in mind for the future. It looks like Papa Pepper does something like this in every season if people get far enough. I notice he left the "drinking own urine" option off of this season...:D

Hey, that was pretty much the only option last season if you didn't have a firestarter. Now you know why I was willing to risk that second floor of the sporting goods' store: because from what I could tell, second floors of sporting goods stores usually stock camping supplies and I really, really was hoping for a firestarter. Shame we didn't get far enough to actually USE it.
I think the mysterious young man might finally be coming into play in today's scenario...
i still think boiling for a long time is the better option for an unknown situation but we would've died the very next day running across the field!

My choice on that was to hit the ground and crawl since that's what the soldiers I know would do. I didn't think trying to return fire would be great but it turns out whoever did that would've gotten really well rewarded!
So far every choice we've been making since would've turned out well - I'm taking lots of notes for next season, like with the creeping charlie and chickweed: we recognized the creeping charlie right away but could not for the life of us figure out the chickweed. We also recognized the poison ivy. Ha. And in the latest, we figured it was time to pull out the note instead of running or attacking. So in the future we just really have to keep in mind that Tom or Earl are ever-present dangers. :D
For tonight's round, it sounds like perhaps it might be time to help someone out, though I wonder if the people doing the shooting might have a good reason to shoot the person behind the woodpile.
