Are you strong?
So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!
1 corinthian 10:12
This scripture brings me back to reality to the understanding that we are in a spiritual warfare and we should be alert no matter how “strong” we might feel.
Let’s look at Peter;one of the most prominent men in the New Testament
“Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not.” “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times.” But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same.”
Mark 14:29-31 NIV
Peter told Jesus that he was sure that even if all would fall he would die with Jesus. That was a very bold claim especially after what Jesus had just finish saying. He had so much confidence in him self that he emphatically proclaimed that he will stand firm.
Let’s see at everything Peter witness
-The feeding of the 5k
-Dead people coming to life
-Blind being restored
-He heard the greatest sermon ever preached “sermon of the mount”
- he saw Jesus in his glorified form(transfiguration)
Peter witness all this miracles so he new at first hand the power of our mighty God!
Let’s see how peter acts just a few hours after his passionate statement.
John 18:10 -11
Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”
- Peter though he had a great heart trying to protect Jesus. He seemed to have forgotten the power displayed by Jesus and tries to take matters into his own hand even though Jesus already told him this had to happen.
John 18:25-27
Meanwhile, Simon Peter was still standing there warming himself. So they asked him, “You aren’t one of his disciples too, are you?”
He denied it, saying, “I am not.”
One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, challenged him, “Didn’t I see you with him in the garden?” Again Peter denied it, and at that moment a rooster began to crow.
- we all now what happened peter denied him three times after he emphatically said he will go to the grave with him.
Why did this happen to peter?
There’s two reasons
- to fulfill Gods will
2)because he relied on his own flesh for confidence
When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.””
Luke 22:45-46 NIV
We see here that the disciples were exhausted from sorrow and instead of taking Jesus advice they decided to sleep it out. It’s never a good a idea to ignore Jesus.# header
Conclusion
No matter how strong you might feel make sure your strength always comes from God and not from your own flesh. Don’t ignore or belittle the advice Jesus gave us in the bible and what ever you do wether small or big make sure you give all glory to God !!!

We have to be wise when it comes to knowing our weaknesses and do what we can to avoid temptation. We can fall into sin when we foolishly think we couldn't be tempted. We also have to be careful in our thought lives so we don't dwell on sins we'd like to engage in. It's not good when you notice your female coworker so much that you know what she wears and what your favorite outfits are.
It also isn't good if you have a teenage stepdaughter and you spend a lot of time looking at her. And she seems to be getting prettier and sexier everyday.
