No, Its Not NSFW

This are the things that artists do, they get a model to pose for them and it is actually and integral part of the learning process. Just in case you guys doubt my orientation, I am straight and I have a daughter that is going to university and I am happily married. So happens that the subject for today's lesson is a male model.

So to answer a few questions before you guys bombard me with questions in the comment section

i) Yes, there are lessons on drawing woman too. But of course they are decently dressed and nothing sensational apart from the fact that woman has a different proportion and shape; I may share it in another post.

(Photo from another session; to get the idea)

ii) The male model is one of our friends, he is not a poor starving model trying to make a living;
iii) The model was paid hourly, so if anyone interested to become one, let me know. I can propose it to my subject co-ordinator.
iv) No he wasn't forced to wear any necklace or call anyone Jack;

This is me giving the finer tips on how to draw a body and the different angle that one can take.

Usually, I will choose a man that is slim so that the correct features can be utilized in the drawing class. There is nothing obscene and everything is done in the name of education.

There are two different male models that were assigned to be drawn.

Of course I make sure they are comfortable. Pillows are provided to avoid stiff necks.

The teacher has to show some right techniques and here I am, explaining how certain angles can be drawn and how the lighting can play a very important part to define the bodily curves.

The ladies are definitely not complaining about this class. Of course, depending on their position, no one artist will have the same angle. So, it is not quite possible to look at another person's drawing and copy the same.

Well, different people have a different style. If you see this guy draw, you will probably think that the subject is leaning against the wall, but that is just the way he perceives things and that is also the beauty of drawing. There is no one right way of doing things.

Students' Work

I have got to say there are differing quality of work. The better ones are the ones that are able to capture the proportions well and is able to capture the lighting in their drawing to give proper contour to the physique.

I always tell my students, it is easier to draw someone wearing clothes compared to someone who is not. If an artist is not able to give a proper tone and perception of depth the drawing would be quite flat and the man would look like a sticker taken out from a sticker book.

Clothing actually gives a good cover and is easier to draw a particular subject.
