Digital Art by JowyAnderson - Guy Fawkes
Hi Guys , it has been awhile since I blogged. This time I was tasked to draw a historical figure - Guy Fawkes. He was a member of a group of provincial English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605.
Well I think most of you have come across this guy but without knowing his name .
He is the symbol (the mask) from the movie V for Vendetta
Honestly, this movie "V for Vendetta" is one of my famous movies ! If you havent heard about it, please check this out and thank me later xD hahaha
Before I get started , I would usually did some background research on the character/figure I was about to draw. So its natural that I google image Guy Fawkes and check out if there were anything related.
And Poofs , you can find there are several fanarts, not much , and some cosplayers of Guy Fawkes.
There are few main elements that I pinned in my mind when I tried to create this painting.
First, the SETTING. -undercroft- the place where all the gunpowders were stored
Second, the Costume
Third, lighting - I chose a yellowish light source because the place might be lit by fire , and constrast it with purple hue of shadows. Always try to build a colour contrast in your image. It will make the image look better.
Fourth , pose , there were several poses I had in my mind but eventually I stick to this one. I use Body-kun figure to help me with the pose.
Always remember that when you can't do something, THINK , and find ways to solve it. There are the challenges and problems we come across in painting. The end result is not important, but the process is. Throughout the journey of creating an artpiece, what you learned most from is through the process.
So whenever I dont know how to paint this part, I will find references to help me. References are very important for artists. Great artists they started off painting using references too, until they managed to build a visual library in their brain.
So I guess thats it. I hope you like this piece and I will see you again next time.
This is really lovely and shows you are a skilled artist.
But adding the process pictures will give it a complete and beautiful touch.
thanks bro ! I will do that next time ^^
