[STEEM ATLAS UPDATE @ 27 Jan '25] Three Ways to Earn from Old Posts

Steem Atlas has over 40,000 posts that were 'inherited' from the old Steemit World Map project.

Since Steemit World Map finished on Steem around five years ago there have been many thousands of posts that would be ideal for the new Steem Atlas.

People are welcome anytime to grab the Pin Location Code and add it to their old posts so that they appear on Steem Atlas.

Now we want to encourage this by providing a way that people can earn rewards from their old posts.

Adding Your Old Posts to Steem Atlas

We are looking for good quality old posts, in any language, that are about particular places or locations.

These include posts about...

• tourist attractions
• holiday destinations
• mountains & lakes
• museums & galleries
• theatres
• sport venues & stadiums
• zoos, animal sanctuaries & wildlife parks
• churches, temples & places of worship
• restaurants, cafes, bars & any type of eating place
• shops & shopping malls
• universities, colleges & schools

In fact any places or locations that you can locate on Steem Atlas.

Posts should be about places you have visited with photos you have taken.

To make one of your old posts appear on Steem Atlas you just need to click on the Add Pin button...

Zoom in to the exact location of the place your post is about, fill in the Pin Description box, and then click on the Copy Location Code button...

Then paste the Location Code into the bottom of your old post.

Your post will then appear on Steem Atlas after a few minutes.

Make sure you get the correct location for the place your post is about. Cross reference on Google Maps if needed.

Three Ways to Earn from Adding Old Posts to Steem Atlas

1. Adding a Comment

While we cannot vote on old posts, we can vote on new comments.

So when you have added an old post to Steem Atlas, check it is located in the right location, and then add a comment to the post saying something like...

I've just added this post to Steem Atlas !

We will be on the look out for these old posts and will vote on as many of these comments as we can.

2. Making a Compilation Post

If you are adding quite a few old posts to Steem Atlas you could make a new post listing the old posts you have added.

Your post could also include information about Steem Atlas, and how you have used it, to help promote the project.

If you have many old posts suitable for Steem Atlas you might want to divide them up into different posts for different topics.

Use the tag #steem-atlas so that we can look out for these compilation posts and give votes for the best ones.

Remember we are looking for quality not quantity. Make sure the posts are just about specific places or locations that you personally have visited.

3. Weekly Prizes for the Best Compilation Posts

Each week we will select one Compilation Post with the best set of old posts added to Steem Atlas.

The prize for that winning post will be 10 STEEM.

We will start with one winning post, but may add more prizes if there is sufficient interest.

To qualify a Compilation Post must include at least three suitable posts successfully and accurately added to Steem Atlas.

New compilation posts can be submitted once a week but the posts added to Steem Atlas should not be repeated.

New Version of Steem Atlas Coming Soon

There will be a new version of Steem Atlas being released in the next few days.

Some of the 'mechanics' of Steem Atlas will change a little with that new version.

To help promote this and show people how to use the new version we invite people to make 'How to use Steem Atlas' posts.

We will be voting on the best posts and there may also be some STEEM prizes for the very best.

We are looking forward to seeing a whole load of great old posts appearing on Steem Atlas.

Posts should be about places and locations you have visited with your own photos.

Anyone caught plagiarising other people's work (text or photos) or using AI to generate posts (text or photos) will be permanently blocked from Steem Atlas.

Of course we also welcome new posts as well !
