STEEM ATLAS : The Atlas Quiz - Test Quiz 01 [31 Dec '24]

in #steem-atlas3 days ago (edited)

Thank you to everyone who has posted on Steem Atlas so far.

This has provided valuable testing and feedback to help us develop a new enhanced version that will be released early in January.

Once that new version is up and running we will begin promotion of Steem Atlas in earnest.

One of the key promotional tools we will be using will be contests.

To help determine the best format for the contests we will be running a number of test contests.

While these will be test contests they will have real questions with real winners and real prizes.

Here is the first one...

The Atlas Quiz - Test 01

To start off we will try a simple quiz format with three questions.

For each question there is one text clue and one picture clue.

All the answers relate to posts to be found somewhere on Steem Atlas...

Question 1

Who hitchhiked nonstop for thousands of kilometres to the Sandy Point where Carlos offered a place to stay?

Question 2

What Japanese 38 came to an unhappy end on the Needles?

steematlas-testquiz-01-B.jpg

Question 3

What furry little fella used to hang out with Maria & The Convicts?

To enter you need to find the answers to the questions and the posts on Steem Atlas that they relate to.

Post your answers in a comment below.

You can make as many comments as you want BUT YOU MUST NOT EDIT ANY OF YOUR COMMENTS.

The quiz will run for seven days or until someone has found all three correct answers and posts.

Prizes

As this is a Test Quiz the prizes will be modest to begin.

The first person to get all three correct answers will get 3 full votes from my account (current value $2.63).

If the winner has a current live applicable post on Steem Atlas at the time of winning, and is voting for @pennsif.witness, then the prize will be doubled to 6 full votes.

I will also be voting on interesting and insightful comments along the way.

I hope you will enjoy this quiz.

It is designed to encourage people to explore and use Steem Atlas.

Feedback and suggestions about contest formats and Steem Atlas generally are welcome.

Happy investigating...

Ah... and I here I was exploring the coastline of Norway because I was so sure I had seen @digi-me posting about a similar lighthouse. I even found one (Store Torungen) that looked exactly the same (a single red stripe) except for a bit different surrounding area. But there were no posts in that location on Steem Atlas and I wasn't ready to leave Norway. 😅

Penguins outside Antarctica? That's new information to me. 🤔

There are definitely penguins outside Antarctica - that used to be my job...

You used to be a penguin???

You can't have read Jonty Gentoo yet 😉

Happy New Year and congratulations on getting the first question @the-gorilla !

As this is a test contest I would be interested to know how you found the answer, and what you think of the difficulty level for this contest.

With Google and AI it is getting very difficult to devise contests like this that aren't too easily solvable.

I am looking forward to seeing the questions in your upcoming contest.

Happy New Year to you too.

As this is a test contest I would be interested to know how you found the answer...

I found it through Google with a few targetted keyword searches - similar to how I find plagiarised articles that have been translated.

Specifically: Search Term

and what you think of the difficulty level for this contest.

I didn't have enough time to solve the other questions - you've obfuscated more of the search terms which I haven't decoded yet. "Japanese 38" for example - I thought this might be an area of Japan that had 38 posts but for me, it wasn't.

So difficulty wise - I suppose if only one question out of 3 has been answered, it's possibly too difficult. It depends what kind of success rate you'd like?

Exactly the challenge I'm finding with my forthcoming quiz! I'd like to use ChatGPT to obfuscate some of my questions but that also means ChatGPT can "unobfuscate" them too!

I'm trying to solve the riddle # 2

On a side note, while looking for the quiz, I started exploring https://steematlas.com/ and, to my surprise, came across dozens of posts under the "travel" tag and title. The content was so well-written and thorough—absolutely excellent! It made me wonder: where did all these people go? Why is Steem now filled with so many below-average, mediocre posts?

Sorry @soulfuldreamer, it is not the correct answer for question #2.

You are on the right line with shipwrecks - but in the wrong hemisphere.

It was a different time back then on Steem - something of a Golden Age - especially when STEEM went up above $5 🙂

I am hoping Steem Atlas can give a second life to all those great travel posts that have been lying hidden on the blockchain.

Hopefully Steem Atlas can attract new people to the platform that are interested in writing travel articles.

It provides a new interface to the Steem blockchain that isn't 'polluted' with all the spam and junk posts.

But I would say the posts were worth the stakes. People invested their time, energy, and words into them—not just creating some random, low-effort posts for votes. I truly understood the objective behind Steem Atlas while searching for the clues. Even if people don't find the right answers, they will discover the right content... 🤞

Good idea about the contests, it will help us become familiar with STEEM ATLAS. I started trying to solve the questions, and I arrived near Massachusetts, but wow, I need to explore more... I think it will be fun.😊

Welcome aboard, and enjoy the journey!

You will be visiting three different continents on your travels...

Question 3

What furry little fella used to hang out with Maria & The Convicts?

Trying to find the answers , google is failed to answer. Searching in steem atlas now

These are cryptic clues so you probably find the answers in Google.

Exploring Steem Atlas will be the best approach.

All three countries have penquins 🐧🐧🐧
