I hope you are all well. Today I am posting an article using the Steem Atlas Website for the first time. I have tried posting an article through steem atlas several times but I was unable to do so. But today my attempt was successful. I was able to pin my location correctly on steem atlas today. Therefore, today I was able to post this article through steem atlas. Since this is my first article, I request our witness @pennsif to correct any mistakes here.

Mahamevna Meditation Monastery 🙏

On January 3rd, my family went to the Mahamevna Monastery in Galle. That day, we were to offer alms to the monks living there. We brought various foods such as rice, pasta, string hoppers, kottu, and desserts for the morning alms. So, that is the day I took these pictures to share with you.

Mahamevna Monastery in Galle is one of the Buddhist religious places in Sri Lanka. In this way, Mahamevna is its name. There are monasteries like Mahamevna in almost every district of Sri Lanka. There are also Mahamevna meditation monasteries in countries like Italy, England, and Korea outside Sri Lanka. This is located in an area called Malegoda in Galle. A person who comes to the monastery can come to Galle city and take the Imaduwa-Akuressa road from Galle to Malegoda and then reach the bus stop at Malegoda junction. The monastery is located about 500 meters from there. There is a signboard near the Malegoda junction that says "Mahamevna Meditation Monastery" to make it easier to reach the monastery.

Everyone likes to spend time in a place that brings freedom and happiness to the mind. This monastery is a place that is called that. The beautiful surroundings, the chirping of birds, and the fresh fragrance of flowers bring great happiness to the mind. The surroundings of the monastery were very peaceful. Anyone who goes there will undoubtedly lose their tiredness. We go there every month on the poya day to observe the sil campaign. In addition, we go to participate in various religious programs held at the monastery.

The monastery's Chaitya and Bodhi are located in the upper courtyard. So, climbing the stairs and enjoying the beauty of the surroundings, we went to worship the Chaitya and Bodhi.

There are also statues of the Lord Buddha in the book room in front of the alms hall and in the Buddha house on the upper yard, as well as near the Bodhi tree. You can see what those Buddha statues look like in the images below.

Each of these "Mahamewna monasteries" located throughout the country performs a great service to the Buddhist religion. That service cannot be described in words.
