MAGIC MATHS
Today we are doing something really fun that you can test on your friends, we are doing magic maths. This will really be good for you as it will test your knowledge of multiplication, adding and subtracting. The whole point of this exercise is to do it in your head. If you use a calculator it will not be like magic anymore. There are certain things you have to memorise first.
1. Ask someone to think of a number to make it easier do not let them pick a number higher than 12. So you say to your friend pick any number between 1 and 12 2. Once they have picked their number you ask them to double the number. In other words multiply by
2. It does not matter what the number is they must multiply the number by two. Or add the same number together.
3. Once they have added the two numbers together, or multiplied by 2 (two)
4. Now ask your child to add 6 to the number that he has just added or multiplied
5. When they have added the 6 they must half it.
6. In other words they must divide by 2.
The last thing they must do is to subtract the number they picked in the first place. So now we have added and subtracted as well as multiplied and lastly divided and subtracted again They should now get the number that they had picked in the first place. It can be so much fun doing this at school or with friend at a party. But the best of all is your child is learning to think for him or herself without any help because they want to do the magic on their own. This is wonderful practice and can make their homework very nice as we realise that they do understand all the different multiplication, adding, subtracting and dividing. Your child will be doing maths without realising what they are doing as this is fun all the way. Another thing is they now know the meaning of the different words like multiplication and division etc. What make this fun as well is that you can spend some fun time with your child without them realising that they are doing maths.
