The race for King-of-the-hill. The "Flippening"
Since day one the America's, dominated by North America, has always been the undisputed king of the steemit hill.
Steemit was conceived, built and initially launched primarily from the USA.
We are now a little over a year down the line much has changed, witnesses or the servers that maintain the blockchain are found all over the world, users are located everywhere and traffic is no longer dominated exclusively by the West.
At any time, even on week ends, when traffic takes a dip, more than a thousand users are online accessing from all types of devices.
These users are coming from all over the planet, at all times.
steemit never sleeps...
Amidst all this growth and changes a new trend is about to emerge.
The race for king-of-the-hill has a new contender and its gaining fast.
It stands out as a large dark blue circle on the global map indicating where steemit traffic is coming from.
In the graph below, three weeks ago, the green line representing traffic out of Asia, surpassed the traffic coming out of Europe, for the first time and that has remained the case ever since.
It is continuing to gain on the red line, representing traffic out of the America's.
In the next week or two we should see the flippening... not only is it soon to happen with Ethereum and Bitcoin, it is now also due to happen with steemit traffic.
It has already happened at the city level, with Seoul the new capital of steemit. Now it is truly number one, exceeding even the number of users from unspecified locations.
But interestingly there is now another South Korean city in the top ten. Busan, which has already surpassed traffic out of LA.
However traffic is not just coming from these two cities in South Korea, its widespread across the country.
Although South Korea is driving the growth, the rest of Asia is lending a hand.
These are the top 25 Asian cities in as this past week.
... and the top 25 cities worldwide
It is now interesting to note that Hong Kong now exceeds traffic out of San Francisco and Houston.
Lagos, Nigeria is also an new contender, ahead of Toronto, from the most populous country in Africa.
Where can I check the country and cities visits to Steemit. It seems like my area is not that desert as I tought. Very good stats, Steemit climbing the viral ladder. Thank you for sharing @gavvet
Interesting that out of all of Asia, growth should be fastest in South Korea. Is there something in how their communities are structured that allows for e.g. more effective communication about the Steemit platform? Could there be a correlation with the wide penetration of the gaming culture there?
steemit content, dominates their local search engines and @clayop and other whales used wise SP delegations to bootstrap the community... now the rest is history.
I see....
I think that Korea being the most connected country in the world helps.
Good point.
Yeah steemit has a great playful component in it and is very addictive too.
Very informative sir @gavvet thank you very much.
You are a master map of the universe. Steemit got to take the surrounding as steemit pours all the love with respect. There is no STOPPING or PAUSE on steemit platform anymore. We will shoot up like a STEEMY Rocket.
Very interesting reports! Looks like we Americans need to get our butts in gear. It does seem like USA is behind the times in terms of crypto.
Yup, the top spot is going to flip.
Upvoted! I didn't know anything about the internet traffic for steemit. Thanks for the informative post about interesting trends @gavvet
Growth is good!
Do you think that there will be any other outcomes besides value of steem rising and more content from Asian countries being entered on the blockchain?
Definitely.
Wow! @gavvet, I'm so glad to see Lagos on the list. But I'm supprised that India is not among the top Asian countries on the list.
You're doing a great job by updating us with the statistics of Steemit growth.
Bravo!!!
Congrats to our Korean Steemians for successfully getting the message out. We can only learn from their success.
for sure
It's awesome that this platform is really becoming decentralized
Great post, I'm just curious what are the top 20 American cities on steemit
