Star Wars— much cooler than you and I thought before

It's not like this entry contains spoilers or references. Welcome if you love it, hate it or any, really.

I don't know why I spent so many years growing up without ever watching a single Star Wars movie.

I mean, I did play a few video games, check out a few memes, watch old TV shows for kids, and say, even check out a bit of some movie as a little kid, or a baby in my father's arms (he being a bit more enthusiast on it); but I never really did watch the roots of a whole cult following as a fully sentient being, and when Episode VII: The Force Awakens came to theaters around 2015, my dad jumped out of his couch to take me and watch a movie.

Definitely not bad, and in some way appealing for someone blindfolded to the whole Star Wars scene.

I'll take a guess and say we're living in some weird age where media is stupid easily-shared/distributed, acquired, checked out and reviewed.
Special effects in this are great, and the plot is "wow!"
...Wait. Turns out the movie is really some sort of homage to the 1977 original movie, kind of an opportunity to relive its plot inside modern day film-making. Though yes, some say "it copies" aspects of the original movie, it branches out to a "new" arc or story— and it's still enjoyable, really. You sometimes have to take off that "franchise reviewing" hat, to really grasp everything in it.
All (space, gun, light-saber) fights caught my attention, I also remembered what great plot the other many movies have that I was probably losing out on. So I began!

Random Episode VI snap. Lucasfilm Ltd.

It's going to be part of one of my most close to home experiences while watching a movie.

I won't get much into detail, but I can't let you go without telling you that the original trilogy(specially Episode IV) is the root for almost every satire, reference and iconic thing about Star Wars.
Don't forget we're talking about a worldwide pop culture phenomenon here, and even if not a die-hard fan, I can't tell you otherwise; it deserves its spotlight.
When I watched Episode IV(what started it all) and the others, I never felt so familiar with something I hadn't really paid attention to, an incredibly satisfying—yet unexplainable— déjà vu. If you've gone through enough media, you have already spiritually watched this movie(and maybe the others); and watching it(even once again!) might one of your best choices as a viewer.

Give it emotional value, some might not give it any.

Even though I watched the prequel trilogy first(sort by episode!) I wouldn't recommend you starting here as well, since it's a prequel released after, it's bound to be better directed at people who want to know the origins of what they already know. I did want to binge-watch them though, that made me understand a lot of things better. The prequel trilogy is certainly mocked for... let's just say a lot of things. It still brings much more to the table if you really began to like the Star Wars setting, even if awkward at times; we all have embarrassing baby pictures.
Star Wars has them too, and plenty of actors you know partake in them!

Star Wars(2015) Issue #26's cover illustrated by Stuart Immonen. Marvel Comics.

It gets way cooler the deeper you dig.

I have been reading manwhas for a couple of years now, and I read Scott Pilgrim's comics not too long ago, and since I found out Marvel does comics on Star Wars, this is a combination I was sure bound to check out.
And it was completely worth it. The art in almost all of them is really pleasing and the writing and the storyboards on them is really varied and interesting, and I can highly recommend lots of Marvel's new stream of comics, and for "the best out there" if you google them, you don't really need any background to enjoy them, though it is pretty rewarding.
I'd say you can sink into comics even after only watching Episode IV. To mention a few: Yoda's Secret War, Obi-Wan and Anakin, Darth Maul.

Episode VIII's theatrical release poster. B O N D.

And as of this post, here we are, VIII.

This movie really put things in order when it came to my hopes regarding the sequel trilogy. This movie had my heart racing and jump up to my throat while in the theater, various moments and character appearances were amazing. The storyboards for this were REALLY great, no matter how much valid or invalid reasons any person who's right or not can have to criticize the plot; it was and is really eye-catching.

This is what I did the last couple months in terms of Star Wars, but no one's saying you shouldn't check other media, even if it's canon/legends or whatever... What am I talking about, you'd ask? Well, just go watch some movies, read some comics and don't be afraid to delve even deeper!

-end of article-

tl;dr: bunch of bias, all anyway leading objectively to "Yeah, Star Wars is worth it, check it out."

Afterwars (you serious?)

My take on some lyfhax kinda article where I actually care about sources, grammar and stuff.
It sure took me a few days(specially late nights), but I'm satisfied with the outcome; I do have different writing styles;) Short story is: last couple months were actually really fun because of the Star Wars media I've been digesting. Be sure you guys and gals do too. I know Episode IX is missing, but I'm also missing a lot of other content that should be mentioned too, this is just me generalizing what I did on holidays related to "Meesa thinks wesa gon be dyin because of yousa!". Ugh.
btw the prequel trilogy doesn't suck as many people say, I think they're le-GIT bOI.
If you'd like to see more or less like this or on this you can sure comment and vote about it!

I need to have more friends like you. I saw TLJ and to be honest, I just appreciate more Star Wars movies. I don't think it was particularly good- but if it werent for that movie, I wouldn't have read the Storms of Crait comic. Bloody great read if you ask me!

As you may have noticed, I upvoted and followed. I want to see MORE of this!

Cheers
Nick
