The night skies over the Karoo
Recently, I found myself on the West coast of South Africa in the famous Karoo in an isolated area about 50 kilometers from the renowned Southern African Large Telescope(SALT).

I’ve always wondered what made the Karoo so special, surely the lack of city lights couldn’t make that great a difference. Well, experiencing the view of the night sky as the fading sunlight disappears, is nothing short of astounding.
With the clear pollution free air, millions of tiny specks of light are revealed where one previously thought that only darkness existed.

Regretfully , my camera could not capture the grandeur of the spectacular scene that had been unfolded before my eyes , so I have outsourced some pictures that are more on par so as not to create disappointment.
