Romance|Blurred Line (1)
Nick swaggered out of the high security detention center with a wide grin on his face, even though nobody was waiting to receive him after being behind bars for 10 years, he was in high spirits and just glad to be finally out of the hell hole. He walked down the graveled road with hope of hiking a ride into the city; joy in his heart and a spring in his step.
Dawn chewed on her pen anxiously and glanced at the phone for the hundredth time, she couldn’t fathom the delay and it was beginning to get on her nerves that they were taking their sweet time despite their promise to get back to her before the end of the day. She was on the verge of giving up when the phone rang.
She picked up the phone and calmly listened as the voice on the other end rambled out apologies. She let out a sigh of relief when the caller from the employment agency finally informed her that the worker she had requested will show up the following morning.
She was just getting ready to head out for lunch the next day when a tall, blond and gorgeous man in a worn out jeans and check T-shirt walked in with his long fingers wrapped around a folded while sheet of paper.
“Who are you and how may I be of help?“, she asked while eyeing him warily .
“I’m Nick and I was deployed here by the employment agency”, he replied.
“I was expecting someone younger and less intimidating but I guess you will do”, she said.
Nick raised an eyebrow, “rude much” he said sardonically.
“I’m sorry if you perceive my honesty as an insult”, Dawn replied sarcastically. “Please, have a seat”, she gestured to the chair close by and watched him settle into it.
Nick handed her a copy of his resumé and watched patiently as she shoved on a pair of spectacles and read through it, he realized how beautiful she is while unconsciously staring at her flawless olive skin, long luscious brunette hair, heavily-lashed brown eyes and a voluptuous body that can give the most chaste men wet dreams.
He was still openly admiring her when she looked up abruptly and caught him staring intently at her. “Do I have something on my face, Mr. Nick?”, she asked sarcastically. “No”, he replied sheepishly.
She smiled knowingly at him but decided it was better not to tease a man like him.
“Mr. Nick your resume hasn’t been updated for 10 years, were you terminally ill or you just didn’t do anything within that time frame?”, she asked.
Nick sighed heavily, “do you want a satisfying or an honest answer”.
“If we are going to work together for a long time then I think the honest answer is the best approach”.
“I was in jail for 10 years and I was released barely a month ago".
The shocked was evident on Dawn’s face and Nick felt like crap for the first time in 10 years.
