THANKSGIVING : REFLEXION FROM THE BOOK OF DANIEL
Word for Today:
"To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked you, for you have made known to us the kings matter v 23."
In our passage today, Daniel returned praise to God. He knew that it was not about Him but rather God who had shown mercy to his servants.
Below is the substance of his prayers:
He blessed the name of God
He ascribed wisdom and might to him
He acknowledged that times, seasons and thrones belong to God
He acknowledged God as the one who gives wisdom, knowledge and understanding
He praised God as the one who reveals secrets
He gave praise and thanks to the God of his father and acknowledged him for his answers to prayers.
It was only after this that Daniel approached the chief security officer of Babylon to request an audience with the king in other to tell him the dream and its interpretation.
We learn from Daniel how to respond in trying times. Do we have close friends whom we share prayer burdens with instead of gossips?
Thanks giving and praise should be our habit for all God has done for us. If you don't know how to praise God repeat this prayer of Daniel.
