Splinterlands - I made it to the Gold I league !!!
I know a few of you don't like Splinterlands posts, but I hope you'll either scroll past this, or indulge me occasionally.
I've been watching my friends in discord, telegram and even the Roaring Twenties guild boasting about how they made it to either the Diamond or Champion leagues and it's been bitter-sweet.
Firstly, I am proud of their success with this game and know that the prizes that they have won, while a little less than before with the new Loot Chest reward system, but still substantial at their level.
Any bitterness, and it's minimal believe me, comes from comparison and envy.
See, it's only recently that I started playing with the seasons in mind rather than just doing the daily quests and I've struggled to get into the Gold leagues of the rankings.
So, for the first time ever I finally made it to the Gold I league, one level below the Diamond leagues, before starting to slide back again. It's a good thing the prizes are awarded at the highest level you reach within a season! :)
After a hiatus,@holoz0r is BACK! And after telling me it would take a while to match me in the Gold III league, he flew past me straight into the Diamond III league! Awesome stuff.
That didn't take long at all. You can see why I'm a little green with envy.
It's all good really, I am just glad to see him back, and hopefully gain access to his new analytics of the cards, their combine and burn rates, prices, etc. These are exciting times indeed!
Anyway, when the season is over, I got this message:

After clicking on Claim Prize, you will see a page like this:

You have a choice of clicking "Reveal All" up the top, or opening each chest one by one.
Personally, I like the build up of suspense of opening each one, like opening a Christmas advent calendar, counting down to Christmas Day.
Because the cards and other prizes are too large to display (or rather, I'm not going to spend hours editing screenshots together :)) I will just show my rewards page from peakmonsters.
My favourite of this batch is the Nectar Queen.
Other prizes included:
333 Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) total
5 Legendary Potions
6 Alchemy Potions
I've heard people complaining about the limited rewards this season, but I understand why it's being done.
This is still a great game and I will continue to play it.

As a side note, there was a little bit of controversy that lead to the name change of the card to Flame Monkey.
I won't go into it, but I am glad that it's been resolved.

I found that playing enough to kill your RC almost ensures you make it to diamond 3.
I took my 2 other accounts to Gold 2 (with all level 2 summoners) and gold 1 (with all level 1) respectively.
Rewards were meh but I did get a gold foil card worth $11.49 and some new reward cards I hadn’t seen yet as well as about $2 in DEC total.
Which gold foil was worth $11.49?
It’s worth $11.39 now.
You can set your own selling price, that’s just a guide.
I've found that almost nobody buys for anything more than the buying guide states. So to me, that's the value.
I agree. The same goes for renting. It's annoying because people intentionally are lowering the value of the cards.
Who's more annoying? The guy who puts a 1500 DEC card up for sale for $2 or the one who lists it for $450? I hate them both :-)
Yeah, both suck.
I finally made it to diamond league last season, and I couldn't complaining about the limited rewards whatever... Been playing for 30 seasons and I know how to handle the lame rewards or shockingly wonderful rewards.
I play for DQ and I got more Dec from the loots than battling, for sure.
Hope that this season will take you to diamond league and get more Wonderful rewards too.
Yeah I don't understand why people are complaining. I think that potions aren't worth a whole lot by themselves. I would like to see some mystery potions thrown into the mix to liven things up a bit.
I am going to be busy this season, so we'll what happens. I might start buying more booster packs when I get paid again.

diamond III. my cards aren't good enough to sneak into champion I anymore
Do you need better summoners or do you need improve individual cards?
I got as high as Gold I and then started to slip down again.
it used to be that having only one maxed splinter was enough. then at the end of beta that wasn't possible anymore. but now with new players coming in, gold is quite a weak division. diamond III is quite weak as well. But then get to diamond I and i hit a wall and see lots of familiar names. these would be your top ~250 players or so.
so there doesn't seem much of a 'middle class' in this game. this would make sense if people are coming in waves (which, with the way that new card sets are released, wouldn't be surprising).
thing is, it doesn't take a lot of USD to get to 'middle class'. if you had about $15 to use for renting a summoner and a few strong cards, you'd get to diamond no problem
