Splinterlands Untamed | Rare Lvl 4 TRUTHSPEAKER, Lvl 1 SHIELDBEARER, and Lvl 5 LUMINOUS EAGLE Evaluation
This time around we've got a trifecta of monsters from the Life Splinter. They are the TRUTHSPEAKER, SHIELDBEARER, and the LUMINOUS EAGLE.
CARDS 2112-2144/2500
First up we've got the TRUTHSPEAKER, a 3-mana support card. This is not a bad card, but I question its usefulness until it gets maxed out.
So right off the bat it gets the Shield ability. That's cool and all, but for one more mana I can just choose my DEFENDER OF TRUTH from the Beta edition and do 3 magic damage too. At level 5 she gets the Cleanse ability, which is one I never go out of my way to use. Finally when maxed out at level 8, she gets the Tank Heal ability, and everything changes. At this point she's in direct competition with my DIVINE HEALER. This will be especially useful when I know my opponent is going to use the Magic Reflect ability. Tank healing no longer has to be a suicide mission.
When I combine my 32 cards together, I am about half way to level 5, and a long ways until this card is useful. At some point I'd like to max it out. So many cards, so little money.
Verdict: Keep and eventually max out for the Tank Heal. Sell the gold foil.
CARDS 2145-2170/2500
Our second Life monster is the SHIELDBEARER, a tank I'm not particularly impressed with.
For 8 mana, this tank never gets more than 10 health. That's okay for a tank, but paired with the Taunt ability, I think this tank is going to get shredded. It will be particularly bad prior to level 5 and the Shield ability. Maxed out it also gets Return Fire, which would be a headache for ranged monsters. I think paired with a good tank healer or two, this card could be useable, but going to sit on this one for now.
Verdict: Keep and don't combine. Sell the gold foil.
CARDS 2171-2213/2500
Last up is the LUMINOUS EAGLE, and interesting card for a few reasons.
Right away this card has both the Reach and Flying abilities. At level 2, it becomes a great alternative to the SILVERSHIELD WARRIOR from the Beta, doing the same damage and even 1 point faster. It does cost 2 more mana than the Beta card, so it won't be eligible for Little League rounds. At level 4 it gains 1 shield, so it can take a free hit, and at level 5 it gains the Knockout ability. Maxed out it can do 4 damage, and obtains the Shatter ability. This means that this card is going to be a great one behind your tank. It will wreak havoc on your opponents tank, and will be particularly useful for Earthquake rounds due to its flying ability.
Lucky me, I received 43 of these cards, which makes this card instantly useful. While 4 damage and Shatter would be nice, it will probably take a while to get there. In the meantime, this will still be a useful card in certain situations.
Verdict: Keep and eventually upgrade.
Woohoo!
