To be very honest, I actually didn't think (and that is absolutely my personal opinion) that Leo should win as VVD is a defender. But again, if VVD had won, it would have been the same story that he is not a forward. I was supporting VVD just for the fact that he had a greater impact on his team which was evident in sudden upliftment in Liverpool's form when he became their main man. He had the biggest "impact" - even if he might not have been the eventual best.

On the contrary, Leo single handedly carried his team for the La Liga and scored monstrous number of goals as he usually does. He was the top scorer of the UCL and La Liga. To top that, he has an amazing number of assists. It was his best season in the Catalunya shirt in my opinion and I can understand why the award went to him. He has been the best in the last season and two matches cannot define your whole season - which these awards have showed us tonight. Perhaps they are focusing more towards the individual accomplishments and that is understandable.

So it is what it is. The panel has chosen its winner. A well deserved award - congratulations again.
