Borrusia Dortmund are not quite firing on all cylinders this season despite some even picking them to win the Bundesliga and give a go in Europe. Granted, they were dealt a bad hand by getting stuck in the same group as both Barcelona and Inter. Traveling to Milan to play Inter was never going to be an easy task, especially with the reputation Antonio Conte has built playing at home. But they now find themselves needing a win at home to have a good shot at getting past the group stage against the Italian side. And now, they have been linked with potentially going after Jose Mourinho.

I don't know if it's fair to be putting Lucien Favre on the chop block already simply because they are still tied with Inter on points thanks to Inter drawing with Slavia Prague (And at home no less) and a win back home against them in the next match day would put them firmly in control again. But they now look to be the team in most trouble with Madrid and Tottenham getting much needed wins of their own. In the Bundesliga they still sit in fourth despite a shaky start to the season that has seen them lose to newly promoted Union Berlin and drop valuable points against Frankfurt, Bremen, and Freiburg before they got a desperately needed win over Monchengladbach back on the weekend. Because no club has really taken command in the Bundesliga they are just 1 point off first place.

Hiring Jose Mourinho would likely be a disastrous move for this club. He is the antithesis of this club and its traditions of developing youth at their academy and is exactly the wrong coach for a team like this. Yes, their defense has been critical in why they have blown so many games in league play this season and that's exactly what he has the ability to fix, but he isn't worth it. This is a prime example of short term gain for long term pain. He may get them a Bundesliga but would set the club backward upon his exit in all likelihood. He'd also wear out his welcome relatively quickly and only make it into his third season before either wanting out or them wanting him out. Dortmund would be better off seeing if Favre could still come good and then looking at a more up and coming coach in the long term.

I do still see Dortmund coming out of this group at this stage as they get to play two of their last 3 at home. The Bundesliga is still completely up for grabs. There shouldn't be any of this Mourinho nonsense.
