The importance of keeping in good health (especially for athletes)steemCreated with Sketch.

Many athletes often make the mistake of regarding fitness and conditioning as separate issues from physical health. This is something that needs to be corrected as more often than not, athletes believe that they can get away with damaging their bodies in the short term in order to accelerate their training (or, compromise on recovery in order to get more training in).

However, this is ultimately detrimental in the long term. The long term ramifications of such practices often signify that athletes get less out of their bodies rather than more.

Just think about it: if you get injured, you can't train. As such, athletes need to remember this: "There is always another day to train." What I mean by this is to not overdo things. I'm not saying you should take it easy, but know your limitations. Hustle in the short term and stay patient in the long term.

You may hate recovery exercises, but remember they ultimately benefit you in the long term.

I've linked one really good video by NBA player Paul Fabritz who gives some amazing tips on keeping your joints in good shape below.

In it, he covers nutrition as well as recovery exercises. He even gives scientific explanations regarding the rationale behind his training methodology.
