Third Test day 3 - England find some fight and put themselves in with a chance.
Day 3 of the test saw England's captain stand up and show some fight. Taking the wickets required at the start of the day, and setting up a chase of 359, keeping the match within England's reach.
156/3 at stumps, with Joe Root providing a captains knock when it was needed most sets up for an exciting day 4. England can achieve a remarkable victory, after registering one of the lowest ever innings totals earlier in the test. Australia will have a new ball to work with early on day 4, and still have another 200 runs in the bank. The odds are still in the Aussies favour, but the match could still go either way.
Good to see Root and Denly make a match of it, Ashes tests shouldn't be as easy as this one was looking like it was going to be. I still think the Aussies will win, but Root has a real chance to stand up and guide his team to an improbable win.
Thanks for reading,
John.
