Saturday's Premier League Results Review
Manchester City started their title defense and began the journey to the third premier league in 3 years with an excellent win against West Ham.
In a game where the video assistant referee (VAR) played a significant role as Raheem Sterling had 3 goals, and Gabriel Jesus and Kun Aguero had one a piece in a 5-0 win against West Ham United.
Tottenham also came from behind to win Aston Villa at their home stadium as two goals from their striker Harry Kane with the two goals coming inside the final 4 minutes of the game and one from their new signing Tanguy Ndombele ensured they came from behind after they fell to Aston Villa 9th minute John McGinn goal and ensure a opening day win.
Everton were held to a goalless draw at Crystal Palace. In a game that saw Everton's Morgan Schneiderlin was sent off and Crystal Palace Wilfried Zaha started out on the bench.
Under their head coach Graham Potter, Brighton had a brilliant opening day win against Watford. Goals from Florin Andone, Neal Maupay and an own goal from Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure confirmed a 3‐0 win over Watford.
Southampton lost away from home to Burnley as goals from Johann Berg (2 goals) and Gudmundsson condemned Southampton to the defeat.
The premier league continues today as Newcastle United host Arsenal, while Wolves visit Leicester City and a match of the day game as Manchester United welcomes Chelsea in what will be Frank Lampard's first premier league match in charge of the blues.
