Welcome once again to a review of day to day happenings for the ongoing FINA Aquatic Championship in Gwangju.

Artistic Swimming Team Technical Final.

Gold🥇 Russia🇷🇺 with 96.94 points

Silver 🥈 China 🇨🇳 with 95.15 points

Bronze 🥉 Ukraine🇺🇦 with 93.45 points.

Russia claims all 7 medals.

Alla Shishkina earned her fifth gold medal in the team technical routine This record has now placed her in front of other Russian stars in the discipline, Aleksandra Patskevich and Angelika Timanina, both on four(4).

China finished as she wins her fifth medal in artistic swimming at Gwangju 2019.

For the Third place (3rd) the Ukraine team claimed a deserved bronze medal.

Record:

The superb Russian team are still undefeated in this event. Superb record I must say.

Open water swimming: Men's 10km Final

Gold🥇 Germany 🇩🇪

Silver 🥈 France 🇫🇷

Bronze 🥉 Germany 🇩🇪

The open water final went down at at the Yeosu Expo Ocean Park in which we saw an European podium for men’s 10 km. The first and second position was being separated by 20 seconds.

10 years after Thomas Lurz, Florian Wellbrock raises Germany to first place.

France's Marc-Antoine Olivier increased his medals tally as he finished second (2nd), making it his fourth medal at an open water swimming world championship (2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze).

Another German Rob Muffels joined his compatriot on the podium after making it to the third position (bronze), wrapping up this victorious day for Germany.

Diving: 3m / 10m Team event Final

This was the last final for day 5.

Gold🥇 China 🇨🇳

Silver 🥈 Russia 🇷🇺

Bronze 🥉 USA 🇺🇸

17 teams qualified to the final in this category but defending Champions France were missing. This meant that we look forward to seeing a new winner.

Each team is made up of two divers one male and one female.

Rules:

The must be three(3) dives from both meters (3m and 10m) by each team.

Each diver must make at least one dive from each height.

We saw Katrina Young and Andrew Capobianco clinched bronze.

Sergey Nazin and Iuliia Timmoshinina of Russia won silver.

Gold went to China's Lin Shan and Yang Jian as China won gold for the first time since this event was introduced in 2015.

It also means that the Chinese are unbeaten so far in diving in Gwangju, winning all eight diving events so far.

Water Polo: Women's preliminary Round:

Three matches went down in Women's Water Polo session as two European, two Asia, an Australian and a North America teams battle for a top Group finish.

Russia 30-1 Korea Republic

After a humbling defeat at the hands of Hungary, Republic of Korea were determined to take something positive out of their meeting with Russia. The hosts got their reward with their first ever goal at a World Championships.

This was an achievement if you ask me. Congratulations to the host for their first Women's Watch Polo GOAL.

USA vs Netherlands

The woman polo match between USA and Netherlands ended in a 12-9 scoreline in favour of the Americans after a 3-2, 6-5, 7-7 finish.

Australia 14-12 China

This was an epic and superb women's water polo match and the best so far in the competition. The scores remained level in three(3) of the quarters but the Australians women run away with a two-point lead.

Congratulations Ladies...

Now both team had win and lose one game apiece in Group D.

Artistic swimming: Duet Free preliminary Round.

Russia who are the World power when it comes to Artistic swimming came top as they qualify for the final of the artistic swimming (duet free) alongside seven(7) other countries

China, Ukraine, Japan, Spain, Mexico, Greece and Austria, in that order.

Diving: Women's 10m Platform Individual preliminary Round.

The preliminary round came to an end at 10:55 am local time. China's golden girl Wei Lu finished first (1st) as many predicted while three times Olympic bronze medallist Meaghan Benfeito representing Canada came second(2nd) and the third position was taken over by Australia's Melissa Wu.

With other five(5) countries completing the top eight (8) finish.

The top eight finishers battle later in the afternoon in the semi-finals for the final slot.
