Namibia: Wüste, Wildlife, Wellenreiten

Die älteste, uns momentan bekannteste Wüste dieser Welt, die „Namib“, gab dem Land an der Südwestküste Afrikas diesen seinen jetztigen Namen.

„Namib“ bedeutet soviel wie „Nichts“.

Doch die Schönheit und die Vielfalt Namibias strafen diesen Namen, ausser man sagt "das Nichts ist wunderschön in der Vielfalt...:-).

Endlose Weite, unberührte Landschaft, Berge, karstige Ebenen und üppige Feuchtgebiete im Norden mit ihrem überbordenden Reichtum an Tieren und Pflanzen lassen immer mehr Menschen kommen und Namibia entdecken.

Natur pur

Unberührte Natur – das ist der größte Reichtum des Landes. Deshalb garantiert Namibia auch als einziges Land der Erde den Naturschutz in der Verfassung. Rund 15 Prozent der Fläche Namibias (105.559 Quadratkilometer) sind für die Natur reserviert. Der Namib-Naukluft-Park ist mit seinen fast fünf Millionen Hektar das größte Naturschutzgebiet in Afrika. In den 21 Schutzgebieten findet sich eine einzigartige geologische, botanische und zoologische Vielfalt:
zum Beispiel die höchsten Dünen der Erde (Sossusvlei), der zweitgrößte Canyon der Welt (Fish River Canyon), das Ugab-Tal mit seinen Felsenburgen und natürlich die artenreiche Tierwelt mit den „Big Five“ Afrikas: Elefant, Nashorn, Löwe, Büffel und Leopard. Der beste Weg, Namibia kennen zu lernen, ist eine „Fly-in-Safari“. Mit kleinen Propellermaschinen werden nicht nur längere Distanzen rascher überwunden, eine „Fly-in-Safari“ garantiert auch phantastische Eindrücke aus der Vogelperspektive: Wechselnde Landschaften wie die Skelettküste, wo die Namibwüste direkt ans Meer heranreicht, das karstig-rostrote Gebirge im Damaraland oder der sattgrüne Caprivi-Zipfel lassen sich von oben in ihrer ganzen Schönheit bewundern.
Funsport

Doch das Land an der Südwestspitze Afrikas hat weit mehr zu bieten als eindrucksvolle Safaris. Wer im Urlaub körperliche Herausforderungen und den richtigen Kick sucht, der findet ein schier endloses Angebot an Funsport-Aktivitäten: Fallschirmspringen, Kayaking, Mountainbiking, Paragliding, Trekking, Wildwater- Rafting und natürlich Surfen an der Küste, um nur einige zu nennen.

Namibia: Desert wildlife, surfing

The oldest, currently most famous desert of the world, the "Namib" gave this land on the South West coast of Africa that its present name.

"Namib" means nearly "Nothing".

However, the beauty and the diversity of Namibia punish that name, except to say "nothing is beautiful in the diversity... :-)."

Endless wide, unspoiled landscape, mountains, rocky plains and lush wetlands to the North with their excessive wealth of flora and fauna inspired more and more people to come and discover Namibia.

Pure nature

Untouched nature - that is the greatest wealth of the country. Therefore, Namibia as a single country in the world guarantees the nature protection in the Constitution. About 15 percent of the area of Namibia (105.559 square kilometers) are reserved for nature. The Namib Naukluft National Park is the largest protected area in Africa with its almost five million hectares. A unique geological, botanical and Zoological variety can be found in 21 protected areas:
for example, the highest Dunes on Earth (Sossusvlei), the second largest Canyon in the world (Fish River Canyon), the Ugab Valley with its rock castles and of course the rich wildlife with the "big five" Africa: elephant, rhino, Lion, Buffalo and Leopard. The best way to become acquainted with Namibia, is a "fly-in Safari". With small propeller machine not only longer distances be overcome more quickly, a "fly-in Safari" guarantees also fantastic memories from a bird's perspective: changing landscapes such as the skeleton coast, where is the Namib desert near the sea, the karst malthonica mountains in Damaraland or the lush green Caprivi Zipfel through from above in their full beauty. However, the country at the southern tip of Africa has far more to offer than impressive safaris. Anyone looking for physical challenges and the right kick in the vacation, find a seemingly endless range of fun activities: skydiving, kayaking, mountain biking, paragliding, trekking, Wildwater - rafting and of course surfing on the coast, only a few oppinions.. ;-)
