In a way all investing is gambling. The odds may be more guaranteed, but you are putting your money somewhere with the hope that it increases in value. If SHTF then even safe investments can lose you money. I think one of the biggest differences is how long it takes to make money. If you stand to make a lot of money in a short amount of time, it's probably gambling. If it takes a long time then it is investment.
