Everyone dreams of the perfect fantasy football team. The glory of it all when you whip up on your office co-workers and friends! This segment will focus on drafting players in weekly fantasy football leagues. Weekly and daily (baseball, basketball, hockey and others) fantasy sports are basically the same thing as season long leagues except as the name implies you get a new beginning each week. I bet Browns fans wish they could have that privilege, LOL! Sorry to pick on the Brownies, my team is worse, the Miami FISH. Cutler, yeah, no. The kick is up, and the seasons over, LOL! At least as a disgruntled Dolphins fan I can still find enjoyment week to week by drafting a winning team. I play on Fantasy Draft because I believe in their business model. Fantasy Draft returns half (I believe) of the money players are charged called the rake, or vigorish (vig). For example, say a contest is $55 dollars. The Vig is $5 or ten percent. Instead of keeping that percentage, Fantasy Draft disperses part of that portion back to ANYONE who has an account and refers others to the site. They also pay whoever signs up under that person, and whoever signs up under that person, and so on for 6 levels. If it went on forever it would be a pyramid scheme. Fantasy Draft is a totally legit site and pays its players instantly. Fantasy Draft also frequently has overlays in its guaranteed prize pools. An overlay is when a contest does not fill up with entries so they have to kick in the rest of the guaranteed money to make up for the payout shortage. Fantasy Draft is also one of largest sites lagging behind only FanDuel and DraftKings. The information we will go over today is relevant and useful for any site. Just pay attention to the pricing structures and player costs as they relate to that particular site. Today we will cover where to best utilize your salary cap when building a team. We begin with Quarterback. Quarterback is the glory position. Everyone wants to be Tom Brady (not a bad looking wife lol). The QB position is the most important position in REAL FOOTBALL. In fantasy football the quarterback position is of arguable importance. That importance depends on the scoring system used for the site in question. But as a general rule of thumb it is better to spend your salary cap on wide receivers and running backs. The reason for this is simply that wide receivers have a huge upside potential. Julio Jones could score 50 or so fantasy points making him a "must play" and would make or break your team on any given week. Running backs also have the potential to blow up big. Following them in importance are Tight ends , and finally Defense. Keep in mind this information is to be used while looking at the macro picture. In any given week any position could be the most important. Thank God Fantasy Draft does not use Kickers. The kicker position mostly involves luck, but then again its all mostly luck. So in closing, if you want to build optimal lineups in weekly fantasy football be aware of the importance of what positions to spend your weekly salary cap. In this humble authors opinion, your cap dollars should be focused as follows: Wide Receiver, Running Back, Quarterback, Tight End, Defense. Again this is just a guide to be aware of when building your team. Good Luck and God Bless. Depending on the interest level, my next post will break down the upcoming week 1 of NFL action that we are all waiting for! Thanks in advance for up-voting this post.
