Minnesota Wild Finally Sign Jordan Greenway
US Olympian and Boston University winger Jordan Greenway has finally signed his entry level contract with the Minnesota Wild.
Greenway has been rated one of the Wild's most exciting prospects and will no doubt be a huge addition to Minnesota's playoff push as the team heads toward clinching their spot.
The door was opened for Greenway after Boston College lost to Michigan in the NCAA Northeast Regional final and both he and the Wild jumped at the opportunity.
To be fair, an opportunity that was coming for a long time now, but Boudreau knows it'll be a big step for the lad:
“It’s a pretty big jump from college to NHL. Some people can do it right away, some can’t. We’re going to give him the opportunity. The funny thing is, he’s coming into a pretty good pennant race.”
“He goes to the front of the net and he stays there. That’s something maybe we lack a little bit.”
Greenway was selected in the 2nd round of the 2015 draft and his 3 year contract will now be triggered if as expected, he joins the team in time for Tuesday's game in Nashville.
The Wild also announced that they had reassigned forward Zack Mitchell to Iowa in the AHL.
I do feel for Mitchell, who has always been a solid performer when he's been called up to Minnesota from Iowa, but the prospect of signing Greenway was one of the big reasons that the team didn't make any big deadline day moves.
Let's just hope this isn't going to mess with the team's chemistry just before playoffs... again.
