Dubnyk Wins his 200th NHL Game. Finally
Remember last week when the Minnesota Wild were sitting pretty in a playoff position and due to face the last and 2nd last placed Oilers and Coyotes?
The Wild were hot, the Oilers were cold and Devan Dubnyk was returning to the team that drafted him and going for his 200th NHL win. The narrative was set up perfectly, but of course there is never a sure thing in hockey.
Things of course didn't go to script as the Wild lost to Edmonton and then backed it up with ANOTHER loss to the Colorado Avalanche, but this is what makes the game so fun to be a part of!
Dubnyk was then rested for the win in Vegas as Alex Stalock got the nod and the W, but finally the big 200 came in Arizona on the 2nd night of a back to back.
Win the 3-1 win in Arizona where Dubnyk stopped 30 of 31 shots, he not only got his 200th win, but also kept his team in the final automatic playoff spot in the Central Division with just 10 games remaining. We can just about taste the clinch now.
Nino Neiderreiter opened the scoring early, before Marcus Foligno got the eventual game winner in the 3rd. Eric Staal added to his scoring tally, drilling one into the empty net to seal the win and Dubnyk's 200th.
Congratulations Doobie, we love you.
