Maradona offers to manage Argentina for free!!!

Argentina’s iconic Diego Maradona has once again showed an interest in taking over as coach of the Argentina national team, having taken the Albiceleste to the World Cup in 2010. This time he is willing do it for free.

Maradona was a passionate and vocal supporter in the stands during Argentina’s matches in this World Cup. In the wake of Argentina’s disappointing showing at the 2018 World Cup, Maradona has now stated that he will take over the Argentina job if he was asked.

Current Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli is reportedly facing axe and Maradona had been objecting to Sampaoli’s appointment for a while now.

Maradona has however suggested that he is not happy with the way Argentina faired in the competition after they exited the World Cup following a 4-3 defeat to France in the Round of 16.

“People think I am happy but my heart is heavy. I feel really bad that everything we built with so much effort we destroyed so easily,” he said.

Maradona himself faced heartbreak when an Argentine team crashed out of the quarterfinal stage after being hammered by Germany 4-0. It seems he is ready to write the wrongs and will work for free if given the chance.

He told Telesur: “Yes, and I would do it for free.

“I wouldn't ask for anything in return.”

While he was a lively presence during the World Cup, he made headlines for the wrong reasons with his goal celebrations and his health called into question.
