Greetings, winter travelers!

Today's post is dedicated to share about the beautiful Bowness Park in Calgary, and one game you and your close ones can enjoy within it.

Crokicurl was invented by Canadians and it combines two popular games of them, mentioned bellow. We went to visit the amazing park during the afternoon, and we had a lot of fun in the game area. It had three rinks for playing and one small-sized for kids and newbies, and my favorite part was between them: a hot fire source to keep us warm.

The header photo shows the decisive game we played in our best of three rounds, and it shows my rock near the center waiting, while my cousin's passed by behind it, missing the throw onto mine and leading to our win :)

The above image and the text bellow were taken from the Official City of Calgary Site:

Crokicurl is a large-scale version of the Crokinole board game combined with curling. The objective of the game is to score the most points by shooting a small curling rock into the centre button (20 points), and trying to position the rocks to stay within the highest scoring circle at the end of each round (red circle = 15 points, white circle = 10 points, blue circle = 5 points).

I wanted to also add some important information about the instructions: each side plays with four total rocks, two for each player on the team if you're playing doubles; and that is a really important dynamic, because if there is a rock from the opposing team inside the circle, your obligated to hit it. If you do not, your rock is removed from the game. When there is no opposing rock, you may try to hit the centre button; if you do hit it, and your rock stays put there, 20 points are counted for your team and your rock is removed from play and set aside until the end of the round, when the points are counted up after all eight throws have been made. You may only try for the centre if there no rocks in the circle or only your team's. Play continues clockwise from the starting player; each player has a quadrant of the octagon of play, and may only throw from it. A quadrant is set as the length of a side plus each half of each neighbooring side. A round consists of the eight rocks being thrown; a game consists of a best of 3 or 5 (or more) rounds. It's really fun indeed!

These two beautiful photos were taken on our way out, and I really loved them. The beautiful Christmas lighting on the trees and buildings, together with the snow throughout, really hit on me. I wanted to finish off the post with another gratitude note, because Love truly exists. It has been an amazing trip so far, and I'm sure that my family is the dearest and the most important gift I've been blessed with in this life, as corny as this sounds. I hope you can also be with your loved ones, internet traveler. Take care, of you and your close ones :)
