Jordan Henderson World Cup Preview!
Jordan Henderson will look to anchor England’s midfield, while opening up the game through long-range passing. England manager Gareth Southgate praised Henderson for being a natural captain. The coach said, “He’s got some tremendous qualities and is a certain leader of men.”
Henderson is a tactical and hard-working player. He will bring confidence and a sense of calm to an England side that is all too used to unorganized play that prevents their talent from shining, as it so often does on the club level.
Henderson will face competition to start from a couple fellow countrymen, Reuben Loft-Cheek and Fabien Delph to name a few, but Southgate’s vocal support should result in Hendo’s spot in the starting eleven. Watch for Jordan Henderson and Spurs’ Eric Dier to round out the two holding centre-mid slots in England’s starting squad.
Forwards Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, and Harry Kane will rely on Henderson for dissecting passes through their opponents defense. Here, Henderson has the ability to deliver.
Throughout Liverpool’s season, Henderson ran up and down the pitch, stealing the ball away from the opposition, and quickly releasing it to open space or an advanced position.
Henderson is a workhorse and should prove effective in a defensive midfield position with England. Look to watch his tactical brilliance and relentless pressure in action on June 18th at 1:00 EDT, when England takes on Tunisia in their World Cup Kick-Off!
