The Difference between the NBA and NFL

in #sports7 years ago (edited)

This NFL season was like no other season in NFL History. From so many star players either getting hurt or not showing up on the field, to the controversy over the national anthem, the NFL is loosing support. You can thank the commissioner Rodger Goodell for that. Since he became Commissioner, he has been doing nothing but change the sport for the worst. Limiting celebrations on Touchdowns and giving players fines for absolutely everything, has made people dislike Rodger very much. Not to mention all of the shitty refs that ruin the game for everyone. The hate for Goodell is not just from the fanbase, but also from within the NFL. Jerry Jones makes his stance very apparent. He told the media that he would not stop trying to bring Goodell down. Another problem the NFL has is the revelation of CTE problems in players, making many people concerned about the brutality of the sport. Others however are worried that the sport is on a path to lose all its grit.
This NBA season, although short, has been very exciting and the league is in better shape than the NFL. NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, has given much more freedom to the players than Goodell does to NFL players. For instance, big players, such as Antonio Brown can't even wear any custom cleats, but Lebron James is able to wear whatever shoe he wants. NBA players are allowed to speak their mind on social media without getting suspended or fined (of course it depends). Joel Embiid recently had an encounter with Karl Anthony Towns on Instagram. It was just a bit of banter and the NBA allows it, unlike the NFL. The NFL and NBA are both much watch leagues, however, there needs to be changes in the NFL in order to make it more entertaining and give its players the freedom they deserve.
