Most expensive defender in the world

Manchester City and AS Monaco confirm the transfer of young defender French national team, Benjamin Mendy, from Stade Louis II to Etihad Stadium, in the transfer market this summer.
With a fee transfer reaching £ 52 million or about € 57.5 million, Mendy becomes the most expensive defender in the world. Together with Pep Guardiola's troops, Mendy signed his signature on a five-year contract or until June 2022.
Following the departure of Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov, Guardiola, who had previously earned right-back Kyle Walker from Tottenham Hotspur and Danilo from Real Madrid, called on the club's management to spend a much wider transfer to bring the 22-year-old Mendy.
