Waking up early for the Super Bowl
I'm am not really a sports fan. There was a time that I was but try as I may I can't really get into "international" sports that are on during a normal time of day over here which for us is going to be mostly Australian sports like AFL (ok), Rugby (no offense, but I find it boring), cricket (too long), or NRL (decent). I just can't really get excited about any of these although I do have some friends that are avid Bulldog supporters in the AFL and they bought me a team scarf so now I turn up to all of those events when they are on.
But once a year a big event happens called the Super Bowl that I am sure you have heard of and even though we are about as far away from New Orleans as you can possibly be, there is a rather large turnout for this once-a-year event at almost any establishment that has a television they can put on.

I don't really have a team that I support, but an auntie of mine, 2 years ago when the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl, mailed me, at great expense, a Chiefs jersey so now I support them and so does Nadi who now has a red outfit that she can wear to the events as well. Trust me, I will be harassed for wearing my kit and she will be praised for hers.
The bar that we are starting out at has a bit of a reputation for being a "rough and tumble" establishment and is the only semi-violent bar that I am aware of that exists in this city. The arguments and fights that happen there happen for exactly the sort of drunken stupid-as-hell reasons that fights happen everywhere in the world and unfortunately one of those fights involved me. I am not a barfight kind of person at all, but at 6 foot 1 and 195 lbs, I can handle my own. I only got involved because a very unruly customer hit one of the little girls that works there and well, we can't have that, whatever the reason was.
I do not plan on getting into a situation like that ever again.
I am sitting here at 4:13 AM and I did have an alarm set for 4 but like a kid on Christmas I actually work up around 9 minutes before the alarm went off. Funny how the body works like that sometimes isn't it?
In order to achieve this feat I took a sleeping tablet last night at 8PM and even though the sleep is still in my eyes at the moment, I am awake and ready, I even had some of last night's chicken fingers and am working on a glass of pinot grigio because I am fancy every now and then ever since I bought an air fryer.

Believe it or not and even though we are 12,000 miles away from where the event is taking place this is such a popular event that you have to pre-buy tickets to get into the event at all. The price of entry was 350,000 VND (around $14) and this includes 4 bottles of beer and a buffet of ribs, chicken wings, brisket, fried stuff like onion rings and fries and probably slaw. It's a dumb time of day to be eating that but I need something in my tummy to soak up beers that are going to be entering my system at a truly dumb time of day.
I jumped the gun on getting our tickets a bit and ended up getting the first 2 tickets that were issued to anyone this year. They could have been collector's items I guess but let's not get ahead of ourselves, it's not that important.
Gauging on what I have seen of the local NFL fan crowd, I am going to be in the minority as far as fanbase is concerned and the reason for that isn't necessarily because anyone is a fan of the Eagles, they just don't like one team dominating the league for years and years in a row. I was kind of already aware of this, but found out that Kansas City is shooting to become the first ever team in the NFL to pull off a three-peat as far as winning the big dance is concerned. That would be pretty great but if they don't pull it off I am not exactly emotionally attached to the team (or the sport) or anything like that. I'll be fine either way.
My strategy today is mostly going to be revolving around trying to not get so trashed that I ruin tomorrow or perhaps even the next day as well. My body can't really handle hangovers as well as I used to be able to.
If you are watching the game I hope you have a great party, I know that I am going to, even though it does begin at 6AM!
