Blake Griffin Sent to Pistons in Blockbuster Deal

5 NBA All-Star Blake Griffin was traded from the LA Clippers to the Detroit Pistons earlier this evening. Along with Griffin are his two teammates in Brice Johnson and Willie Reed and a Future 1st and 2nd Round draft pick. The Clippers got a pretty hefty return for BG32, including Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic and a couple future draft picks.

This came as a surprise to many of whom thought Blake Griffin would be a Clipper for the Long haul after signing a 5-year $173 Million Dollar Max Contract just this past summer. However, it was also clear that the Clippers were looking to retool there roster with the recent buzz around trade packages including Deandre Jordan and Lou Williams.

While surprising, this trade is very intriguing. The Pistons have been lacking that star power for the better part of a decade now. And after getting off to a very hot start the season there flame was quickly put out by a bucket of ice water. Maybe Griffin is the spark they need to reignite their push towards the playoffs.
