..One minute left of the game... He stops. Focuses. And shoots...
It’s been a high tempered game all through the end. Both teams have had the lead several times. The game has nearly come to an end. It ends a tie 53-53. Now it has to be settled in overtime. Five minutes are added. The home team-fans builds up support when the opponents has the ball yelling: “De-fence, De-fence, De-fence” clapping meanwhile.
The lead once again shuffles between the two teams throughout the extra added minutes. Only a couple of minutes is left now. Several times the trainer calls the teams to the side when they lose the ball. It’s 55-56 now. The end is near. Time is running out. Only one minute is left. The orange ball is heavily dribbled across the floor. The opponents are with all effort trying to stop the hometeam and get the ball. Meanwhile the hometeam is desperate to get the ball in the basket. The audience is rooting for the hometeam with claps.
“Let’s go Vikings, Let’s go!”
“Let’s go Vikings, Let’s go!”
“Let’s go Vikings, Let’s go!”
The opponents are lacking moral support from the benches. One single guy is seen rooting for them. They must have left their fans at home. The guests fouls and loses the ball.
With 15 seconds left our guy with the dark haired curls with the number 15 sewn across his back receives the ball. He has been on fire all through the game. Several times he has sent the ball trough where it belongs.
Standing exactly on the 3 points line - he bends his knees. Dribbles the ball. His teammates trying to guard the others from getting close to him. It’s almost impossible to shoot from his position. The guests trying to get the ball from him. He dribbles once more. 10 seconds left.
Time is almost out. The red numbers on the scoreboard is running fast. Both hands firmly on the ball. With a good grip he jumps straight up and shoots. The orange ball is in the air. The time is out. The ball is in slow motion nearing it’s goal; the basket. The crowd goes silent. It’s all or nothing now. All eyes are on the ball.. The ball goes through the net and…
The scoreboard changes to 58-56! The crowd roars wild. Folks are clapping. Whistling. The blue-and-white dressed number 15 is hugged from behind by all of his teammates who comes running down to him.. Man of the match... What. A. Game.
“Let’s go Vikings, Let’s go!”
“Let’s go Vikings, Let’s go!”
“Let’s go Vikings, Let’s go!”
How I became interested in basketball by watching a game between Skovbakken and Aalborg Vikings
