The unifying factor of Football in Nigeria - Why Nigerians are the happiest people in the world.
The world's most crazed soccer nation? Try Nigeria
Nigeria is a country with massive divisions. Despite these divisions when it gets to football, you see these obvious divisions gone.
Immediately, an Hausa man hugging an Ibo man or exchanging handshake all because of one thing - football. Football from time immemorial has been one great unifying factor, source of joy and happiness to Nigerians. I remember great times of old when Nigeria Super Eagles Team was feared by many nations dating back as preceding 1994 and up to the Olympics in Atlanta 1996 where Nigeria won a gold medal beating Brazil and Argentina.
I have studied the way Nigerians watch football with passion. It is because of this passion for football that prompted me into owning a viewing centre where people come to watch matches of different clubs all over the world.
Nigerians are great lovers of football. The kin interest they put and passion for the game did not only stop here as Nigeria football fans but they are also fans of football of other clubs in the world.
Have you ever seen different club fans celebrating their clubs scoring goals or the sadness that follows when they miss good chances?
This can only happen because of the joy and happiness they derive from football and because of their nature as Nigerians (happy Nigerians).
I observe the crowd coming to watch match in my viewing centre, especially when big clubs in the English Premier League and the Spanish LaLiga Santander leagues are playing. The likes of Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool all from the EPL and Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and others are great footballing clubs that attracts a large number of crowd.
The past weekend I watched Liverpool beat the EPL leading side Man City 4 - 3 to break their unbeaten record. The match was an interesting one and attracted many spectators all supporting their clubs. It was very interesting seeing Liverpool fans dancing when their team scored the first goal and Man City fans also dancing when their team equalised. This drama continued till the match ended with Liverpool winning 4 -3.
