Well HOLY HELL...TWO Upsets One Night. The #1 and #2 Seeds Go Down In The Home Run Derby...Or At least I Thought!
(NOTE: I wrote this after Justin Bour had an unbelievable round and I thought an upset was possible. It seemed like a waste to not post it. But this would have been my feelings had Judge lost.)
In a night that was supposed to feature TWO TITANS of hitting the long ball...BOTH Defending Champion Giancarlo Stanton and his betting rival Aaron Judge both get taken out by TWO unknowns. Two dudes that were supposed to play there part as Sacrificial Lambs to feed our thirst for blood.
We wanted to see Massive Gladiators battle for glory. The 6'8 285 Behemoth Aaron Judge against the 6'6 250 Killer Giancarlo Stanton.
We wanted our Spartacus vs Hannibal. But what are we left with? A possible Gary Sanchez vs Justin Bour. Who in the hell are these guys? And why are they spoiling our party? C'mon MLB baseball. If you are gonna bring in sacrificial lambs at the very least make them do their part. Bring in guys like Dee Gordon or FP Santagelo for God's sake. Make it easy like they did in the Gladiator days when they would throw the elderly and crippled against the Monsters of the Arena.
Oh well. Hopefully tomorrows game will be better.
