The Weekly Steemit Scramble Contest

Tournament Information

World Golf Championships – Mexico Championship
March 2 – 5, 2017
Club de Golf Chapultepec – Mexico City, Mexico

Last year’s champion, Adam Scott, is in the field again for this tournament. He had a somewhat disappointing 14th-place finish last week in his champion defense at The Honda Classic and will be looking to defend his tournament title once again this week at the Mexico Championship. He’ll be joined this week by plenty of big names, including last week’s winner, Rickie Fowler, and Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, and Jordan Spieth. Also in the field will be previous World Golf Championship winners, Dustin Johnson (2015), Patrick Reed (2014), Justin Rose (2012), and Phil Mickelson (2009).

The Club de Chapultepec course is 7,245 yards from the tips and is a par-72 course. It has a 74 rating and a slope of 133.

Tee times begin at 11:03am CST, 12:03pm EST, on Thursday, March 2nd.

The forecasted high temperatures for the tournament are in the low to mid-70s with light breezes throughout the weekend. There is currently a projected 40% chance of rain on Sunday.

Player Selections and Multiplier

For the weekly Steemit Scramble, select three golfers from the tournament field that you believe will perform well and finish highest in the final standings. Based on the final results of the tournament, golfers will be assigned the following points:

ResultsPoints Awarded
1st place12
2nd – 5th7
6th – 10th4
11th – 20th2
21st - final cut1

THIS WEEK’S 2x MULTIPLIER: Choose the number of golfers finishing the tournament under par. (There were a total of 22 golfers who finished under par in last year’s tournament.) The closest participant(s) to the multiplier statistic will earn DOUBLE their total points for the week.

AN ADDITIONAL 5-POINT BONUS will be awarded to all unique golfer group selections. The bonus will be added to the contestants’ point totals AFTER the multiplier has been calculated. If two or more contestants choose the same group of golfers for the contest, then the contestant who entered their selections first will receive the bonus.

Here is the top-20 Fed Ex Cup leaderboard as of Monday, February 20th. These are only the Fed Ex standings. This is not a list of golfers in the current tournament. Please choose your selections from the current tournament field. For the complete Fed Ex Cup standings you can visit this link from PGATour.com.

How to Play and Win

  1. In a comment on this post, submit your three golfers and your prediction for the weekly multiplier. ONLY ONE COMMENT SUBMISSION PER USER, PER WEEKLY CONTEST.

  2. Submissions will be confirmed at the start of the weekly tournament. ALL CONTEST SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ENTERED PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED START TIME AT THE FIRST TEE ON THE OPENING DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT. Late submissions and any edits after that time will be automatically disqualified from the weekly contest.

  3. There will be three winners each week. The winners will be the contestants with the most points gained, based on the points distribution outlined in Player Selections and Multiplier. All point totals earned from all contestants will carry over for the monthly and season-long contests.

  4. The contest is funded with a minimum pot of 50 STEEM. The total weekly pot distribution will be divided as follows:

PlaceRewards Percentage
1st50%
2nd30%
3rd20%

In the event of a tie, the pot will be split between the tying contestants. If the tie occurs for third place, then all tying contestants will split the 20% payout. If the tie occurs in first or second place, then the tying contestants will split the total payout for those places.

Example: A two-way tie for first place will split 80% of the pot (50% + 30%) and third place will receive the remaining 20%. A three-way tie for second place will split 50% of the pot (30% + 20%) and first place will receive the allotted 50%.
