STEEM Cup Series Results – Firekeepers Casino 400

Kyle Larson won for the second time this season after taking the pole position in the Firekeepers Casino 400. The top three in last year’s race were Joey Logano, Chase Elliott, and Larson, in that order. This year’s result found Larson on top, followed by Elliott, then Logano. Larson led for 96 of the 200 laps and has moved into the lead for the Monster Energy Series standings, leading Martin Truex Jr. by five points.

A note on points: I have been rounding up point totals to the nearest whole number. The numbers in parentheses below show the actual point total for the second place contestant. They will be awarded the full points for the monthly and season contests, but the placement for the weekly contest will be decided by the actual points that have been tallied before rounding. The true point value will be used to reduce ties for the weekly contests going forward.

I will be traveling for the next few days and last week’s post has not yet closed, so I will send contestant awards next week. When that occurs, I will update this post with the usual information.

Please keep in mind that all points will accumulate for the monthly and season-long contests. Here are the top-10 contestants for the STEEM Cup Series through the current month’s standings. The top-5 contestants each month will receive prizes and the top-10 for the season will also receive prizes. The current monthly contest will run through the end of June.

Race Information

Toyota/Save Mart 350
Sunday, June 25, 2017 – 3:00pm ET
Sonoma Raceway – Sonoma, California

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is heading to Sonoma, California this week for the Toyota/Save Mart 350. The Sonoma Raceway is a 1.99-mile, 10-turn road course. This year’s race is scheduled for 110 laps, with two 25-lap stages and one final 60-lap stage to determine the race winner. The total mileage for the race is 218.9, which is 350 kilometers.

Tony Stewart was last year’s champion, edging out Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano for the victory. Stewart is now retired, but Hamlin and Logano are scheduled to compete again in this year’s race.

The current weather forecast for the race in Sonoma on Sunday has temperatures in the mid- to upper-70s with no precipitation expected.

The drivers have not yet completed qualifying for their start positions in Sunday’s race. You can find their practice times and the updated qualifying times/positions prior to race time at the following link: NASCAR Race Center.

Driver Selections and Points

Each contestant will choose three drivers for the weekly STEEM Cup Series from the field of qualifying drivers. Based on the number of drivers and the final results of the race, drivers will be assigned points as follows:

Once these points are tallied, they will be divided by 2. After the points are divided, the following bonus points will be awarded/deducted:

+15 points for the race winner.

+10 points for unique driver combinations. If two or more contestants select the same drivers, then only the first contestant to post those selections will earn the bonus points. ENTRIES THAT ARE NOT UNIQUE DRIVER COMBINATIONS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR ANY OF THE ADDITIONAL BONUS POINTS.

+3 points for each driver finishing the race ahead of MY DRIVER.

-2 points for each driver finishing the race behind MY DRIVER.

Contestants cannot choose KURT BUSCH as one of their drivers for this race.

How to Play and Win

1. In a comment on this post, submit the full names of your three drivers. ONLY ONE COMMENT SUBMISSION PER USER, PER WEEKLY CONTEST.

2. Submissions will be confirmed and locked in at the start of the weekly race. ALL CONTEST SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ENTERED PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED START TIME OF THE RACE. Late submissions and any edits after that time will be automatically disqualified from the weekly contest.

3. There will be three winners each week. The winners will be the contestants with the most points gained, based on the points distribution outlined in Driver Selections. All point totals earned from all contestants will carry over for the monthly and season-long contests.

4. The contest is funded with a minimum pot of 10 SBD. The total weekly pot distribution will be divided as follows:

In the event of a tie, the pot will be split between the tying contestants.
