Race Information

Bojangles’ Southern 500
Sunday, September 3, 2017 – 6:00pm ET
Darlington Raceway – Darlington, South Carolina

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads to Darlington, South Carolina this week for the Bojangles’ Southern 500. Darlington Raceway is a 1.366-mile, egg-shaped oval track. The race is scheduled for 367 laps, with two 100-lap stages and one final 167-lap stage to determine the race winner.

Martin Truex Jr. still holds the top spot in the Monster Energy Series standings with 951 points. He is still trailed by Kyle Busch with 850 points and Kyle Larson with 845. Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin round out the top-5 with 824 and 753 points, respectively. Martin Truex Jr. won last year’s race from the 8th starting position.

The current weather forecast for Sunday’s race time in Darlington has temperatures in the mid-80s with no expected precipitation.

Driver Selections and Points

Each contestant will choose three drivers for the weekly STEEM Cup Series from the field of qualifying drivers. Based on the number of drivers and the final results of the race, drivers will be assigned points as follows:

Once these points are tallied, they will be divided by 2. After the points are divided, the following bonus points will be awarded/deducted:

+10 points for unique driver combinations. If two or more contestants select the same drivers, then only the first contestant to post those selections will earn the bonus points. ENTRIES THAT ARE NOT UNIQUE DRIVER COMBINATIONS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR ANY OF THE ADDITIONAL BONUS POINTS.

+15 points for the race winner.

+3 points for each driver finishing the race ahead of MY DRIVER.

Contestants cannot choose CHASE ELLIOTT as one of their drivers for this race.

How to Play and Win

In a comment on this post, submit the full names of your three drivers. ONLY ONE COMMENT SUBMISSION PER USER, PER WEEKLY CONTEST.
Submissions will be confirmed and locked in at the start of the weekly race. ALL CONTEST SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ENTERED PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED START TIME OF THE RACE. Late submissions and any edits after that time will be automatically disqualified from the weekly contest.
There will be three winners each week. The winners will be the contestants with the most points gained, based on the points distribution outlined in Driver Selections. All point totals earned from all contestants will carry over for the monthly and season-long contests.
The contest is funded with a minimum pot of 10 SBD. The total weekly pot distribution will be divided as follows:

2nd	30%
3rd	20%

In the event of a tie, the true point total (non-rounded value of total points) will be used in an attempt to break the tie. If a tie remains, then the pot will be split between the tying contestants.
