As a very passionate baseball fan, today I read very sad and heartbroken the terrible news about the death of Roy Halladay in a plane crash in Gulf of Mexico.

I will not provide details of the new as that is not my intention with this post but express how this new made me feel.

As a kid growing up in Venezuela I dreamt of becoming a major league player, more specifically a pitcher. I remember I saw Roy playing here in my country in the winter season of 97-98 when he played with the Cardenales de Lara (Lara Cardinals), the team from my state (but a team I do not support). He was very dominant and I could see the kid had talent (he was 20 years old when he played here).

Bellow a picture of him during his time in Venezuela.

What he did in the major leagues is well known for all the baseball fans. He was clearly one of the most dominant pitchers of his generation, a very hardworking guy and a badass on the mound.

My most loved memory of him is, of course, the time when he threw a perfect game against the Reds in the 2011 NLDS.

A very fierce competitor, a first class gentleman on and off the field, Roy Halladay has parted to prepare for the Opening Day of the next season of the Heaven's Baseball League.

Rest in pace and bon voyage Roy, baseball fans all over the world will always remember you!
