- Total 32 teams would participate in the UEFA Champions League .
- Teams have been divided into four pots of 8 teams , i.e each pot consists of 8 teams .
- Pot 1 - 8 teams , Pot 2 - 8 teams , Pot 3 - 8 teams , Pot 4 - 8 teams .
Pot 1
- Pot 1 consists of the mightiest , powerhouse teams of Europe . Top 3 of Spanish La - Liga Real Madrid,Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are in Pot 1 . The English Premier League Champion " Manchester City " are part of Pot 1 . It also includes France's best team PSG , German powerhouse Bayern Munich , Cristiano Ronaldo's new team Juventus and last but not the least Lokomotiv Moscow .
Pot 2
- Pot 2 mostly consists of the runner ups team from the various European leagues .
- This pot is interesting as you could see some real game changer in this group . Some are dark horses and some could ask a good question to Pot 1 teams.
- Generally Pot 1 and pot 2 teams are the teams that mostly go on to claim the UEFA champions league title .
- So Pot 2 teams should not be underestimated .
- Let us have a look at the teams in Pot 2 .
- German darkhorse " Borrusia Dortmund" , Most times English Premier League title holder " Manchester United " , Portoguese powerhouse "Porto",Shakthar Donetsk and some middleweight teams which could upset any big team in any given day like Benfica, Napoli ,Tottenham ,Roma .
All the four pots play a very significant role in the UEFA Champions league draw . Which teams will play against which , which team will land in which group , everything's get decided by the draw through pots .
Many times UEFA champions league draw decides the fate of the teams participating in the UEFA Champions League .

'potting' so to say is done according to UEFA co-efficient ranking, it is interesting to see Lokomotiv Moscow raking so much point to be in pot 1, while likes of Man Utd and Liverpool aren't in pot 1
Good teams in pot 3 too and even pot 4 (Inter, Hoffenheim, Club Brugge)
