Patriots @ Dolphins (Monday Night Betting Preview)

It is late Monday night; the Miami Dolphins just were embarrassingly dismantled, losing by 24 points and allowing 45 points in total. The opposing quarterback just shredded their defense for four touchdowns. The dolphins head coach, Adam Gase, is completely befuddled by what he just witnessed from his team: “Something’s not going as planned and we just have to go back and look at this. Is it the personnel? Is it the calls?”.

Don’t worry, what is described above is not an attempt at clairvoyance. No, what is described above is what happened the last time the Dolphins played on Monday Night. It was week 10. The Dolphins lost 45 to 21 to the Carolina Panthers, allowing 548 yards in the process. The Dolphins could experience déjà vu this week, because in their return to Monday night, they will be greeted by Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Remember when the Patriots had the worst defense in the league? Well in the last eight weeks, the Patriots have not conceded more than 17 points. The defense is firing on all cylinders, Tom Brady is playing as good as ever (MVP?), and the Patriots all of a sudden have one of the best backfield duos in the league. And as if you needed any more reasons to bet on the patriots, here is the real kicker. In the last seven weeks the Patriots have covered the spread EVERY TIME and the Dolphins have only covered ONCE. It should be noted, that one time was against, until this week, the hapless Broncos.

This is Goliath vs. David. This is Jordan vs Lavar. This is the Browns vs the Crimson Tide (obviously the Browns would win, think people). This is Mad Bum vs Kershaw in October. This is Loma vs Rigo. This is Woman vs. Man (...women are smarter, obviously). This is Game. Set. Match. Patriots!

Verdict: Bet the Patriots (-12) and the Over (48) with the same confidence you have that the sun will rise tomorrow. (Boy will we be embarrassed if the Dolphins Win)
