Seeing new Juventus coaches, Inzaghi and Pochettino become favorites
After Juventus officially sought out a new coach, the names Mauricio Pochettino and Simone Inzaghi became favorites to replace Massimiliano Allergri. The reason, names like Antonio Conte, Pep Guardiola and Didier Deschamps will be difficult to come to the Allianz Stadium.
A statement from the club today confirmed Max Allegri would not be on the Juve bench for the 2019-20 season. He ended his contract a year earlier with mutual agreement.
Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici, who played as Directors, were expected to push Antonio Conte's return after his experience with Italy and Chelsea.
However, Conte is in further negotiations with Inter Milan and President Andrea Agnelli has never fully agreed after Conte left in 2014.
Conte will also not give a change of approach to the more attacking and international football style that Agnelli is looking for.
The first choice to replace Allegri is Guardiola, who is already fluent in Italian because he has played in Brescia and has a great fondness for Italian football.
Guardiola had just won his second consecutive Premier League title with Manchester City, but was frustrated after being eliminated from the Champions League from Tottenham Hotspur.
Guardiola will be interested in the Juve project, but Manchester City will not be easy to release the former Barcelona coach.
The same applies to Pochettino and Tottenham Hotspur, who have just reached the Champions League Final after dramatically removing Ajax Amsterdam in the semifinals.
The Argentine Pochettino has said he wants to discuss plans at Spurs before deciding whether to continue or not with Tottenham. Pochettino himself has a personal relationship with Juve, because his family emigrated to South America from the Turin area.
Deschamps, who coached Juve in Serie B after the 2006 Calciopoli scandal, is still under contract with France and it seems the French Federation is not ready to release him.
The most likely candidate for the Juventus season is Simone Inzaghi.
Inzaghi has achieved impressive results with Lazio by winning the Italian Super Cup and earlier this week defeating Atalanta to lift the Coppa Italia.
Inzaghi expressed frustration with the club's refusal to support him during difficult times and this could be his exit this summer. In addition, Nedved and Paratici also like Inzaghi because he was once a team at Lazio.
