We touched upon this on our “5 WWE Wrestlers
Who Are Avid Gamers” video. Shelton Benjamin
actually has an official Guinness World Record
for having the highest number of wins in the
WWE THQ Superstar Challenge tournament. This
was an annual tournament set up by THQ, in
which WWE superstars would compete to determine
who was the best SmackDown vs Raw player.
Shelton Benjamin has won the competition an
impressive 4 times in a row and even voluntarily
stepped out for his 5th potential title in
order to “…let somebody else get the chance
to know what it’s like to be the champ”
according to him. If Benjamin and Woods do
ever clash on UpUpDownDown, grab a front row
seat because it’s going to be a good one!
Former WWE wrestler, AJ Lee achieved a Guinness
World Record back in 2012 for being the first
female to win the annual WWE Superstar Challenge.
AJ Lee is actually an avid gamer so this challenge
was right up her alley and without Shelton
Benjamin around she was able to breeze through
the competition. AJ Lee scored a victory in
the opening round against Tamina and then
another victory over The Punjabi Playboy,
The Great Khali in the quarter finals. In
the semi-finals she defeated the Intercontinental
Champion at the time, Cody Rhodes before winning
the finals against The World’s Strongest
Man, Mark Henry in a five-minute contest.
The Chairman of the WWE, Vincent Kennedy McMahon
achieved a world record by becoming the oldest
person to win the then WWF Championship at
the age of 54. Shortly after winning the 1999
Royal Rumble, Vince McMahon went on to face
Triple H for the then WWF Championship in
a match, where Shane McMahon was special guest
referee. Triple H dominated the match until
The Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin
interfered and performed a Stone Cold Stunner
on Triple H. He then dragged Vince’s battered
body onto Triple H which allowed Shane McMahon
to make a 3 count thus making Vince McMahon
the new WWF Champion, which he vacated on
the following episode of RAW.
It is a common misconception to think that
the youngest WWE champion was Randy Orton
as he was the youngest WWE World Heavyweight
Champion at 24 years old. However, in actual
fact it is the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar
who is the youngest WWE Champion at the young
age of 25. He achieved this world record in
2002 after defeating the WWE Undisputed Champion
at the time, The Rock at SummerSlam not only
making him the youngest WWE champion in history
but also the second fastest wrestler to win
the WWE championship just after Ric Flair.
Prior to his WWE Championship victory, Lesnar
also won the 2002 King of the Ring tournament
just months after his debut. Not bad. Not
bad at all!
When you think of the kings and queens of
selfies, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and the
Kardashian family all spring to mind but how
about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson? At the
world premiere of the movie, San Andreas,
The Rock attempted to set a new Guinness World
Record with his fans for the most selfies
taken in three minutes and successfully did
so. The total number of accepted selfies he
took was 105 meaning he would have taken a
selfie every two seconds. He joked on twitter
saying, “Helluva shoulder workout. #SelfieKing”.
The Record has since been broken by Donnie
Wahlberg on the 21st October 2016. He took
122 selfies in three minutes.
