Thibaut Courtois has confirmed he will have to consider leaving Chelsea for Spain due to family reasons.

Standard Sport revealed earlier this week that the keeper might reject a new contract even if Chelsea meet his wage demands because he wants to move closer to his two children.

Both of Courtois' kids are being raised in Madrid and he understandably would like to see them more regularly.

Chelsea want to give him an extension on his current deal, which has 18 months left to run, and more talks will he held later in the season.

But speaking to Spanish station LaSexta, Courtois said: "Everybody knows that due to my personal situation, Spain attracts me. If it is not now, it will be in some years."

The 24-year-old asked Chelsea to double his £100,000-a-week salary when negotiations started earlier in the year.

Chelsea's initial offer in May was rejected because it was less than that and there have been no talks since.

Real Madrid are huge admirers of Courtois and are considering making a bid in the summer, although Manchester United star David de Gea and Athletic Bilbao's Kepa Arrizabalaga are also on their wishlist.

It is understood that their fierce local rivals Atletico could also make a move to bring Courtois back to the Spanish capital.
