Germany went ahead through Timo Werner in the eighth minute. Omar Hawsawi's own goal took Germany 2-0 ahead of the first half. Saudi Arabia earned a penalty that failed to convert into a goal by Mohammed Al Sahlawi, but the ball then struck Taiseer Al Jassam to change the score to 2-1.
